All are centrally located in the northern part of civic Tampa, and the parks themselves are a short drive from the coast and to inland natural sites like Lettuce Lake Park and the Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve.


Back on the Gulf Coast, the Tampa Bay Estuarine Ecosystem Rock Ponds Area and the Terra Ceia Preserve State Park are just south of the metro area, and they are near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge that goes to St. Petersburg, Shell Key Preserve, and Clearwater. This isthmus that makes up the Tampa Bay tends to be a focal point for activity and outdoors experiences. Madeira Beach is just a few miles from St. Petersburg and is a popular spot along a paved breakwater extending into the gulf. Madeira Beach has John’s Pass Village and Boardwalk and there are several points of interest within walking distance, not the least of which are white sand beaches!


Tampa RV and camping enthusiasts also have easy access to Southern Florida, where Everglades National Park and quaint towns like Cape Coral, Naples, and Punta Gorda make up the west coast of the state. South Florida is known for is beach camping. Pick a site along the coast at one of the many RV parks in the area and watch the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico, beverage of choice in hand, toes curled gently into the sand.
