12430 Trawalter Lane, Von Ormy, TX, 78073

Located on the Original El Camino Real, the offical road between Mexico and San Antonio, General Santa Anna camped here under a giant oak tree on his trip to meet up at the Alamo with Davy Crockett.

We have nearly 100 acres to hike, ride your bike, or bring your own horse and enjoy a trail ride. Cowboy campsites offer a unique camping experience with your horse. We are the only "Horse Motel" in the San Antonio area and offer RV, cabin and tent camping in a modern RV Resort or primitive sites down on the Medina River.

Fish, canoe, kayak, swim or just enjoy the wildlife which abounds here at the ranch. We offer "Cow Candy" in the store so you can feed our lovely ladies of the bovine variety.

Please do drive slowly through the park as our free-range chickens are fearless and we want to keep them and the kids safe.

Wonderful dog park and children's playground for your little ones to enjoy.

Alamo River RV Ranch is located near Von Ormy, 15 miles from downtown SA, and is a popular place to kick-back and enjoy the gorgeous, culturally-rich city of San Antonio. For visitors looking for a quiet Texas getaway, look forward to on-site activities such as basketball, horseshoe toss, hiking, biking, and tether ball. Campers can also explore the Medina River, known for excellent fishing, canoeing and water rafting! There's also tons to do just outside of the campground, including: the Alamo for tours and a walk through San Anotnio's history, the Riverwalk, the San Antonio, the Botanical Garden, Six Flags: Fiesta Texas and some of the best Tex-Mex restaurants in the world! The campground features full hookup campsites that are big rig friendly for RVs of up to 60 feet long, a dog run, free WiFi, a fitness center, picnic tables, fire circles, and grills. It also includes basic amenities like restrooms and laundry facilities. See you soon!

My husband is from SA, so we visit all the time, but it was a much different experience visiting as a camper. We really enjoyed being within driving distance of a number of iconic southern attractions, while also being steeped in a beautiful natural environment. The campground isn't super expensive, so we were able to reroute our funds to take advantage of the sights and great food. We stayed there for two weeks, and were lucky enough to catch a show at the Aztec Theater and floated the river. Worth a visit for sure!
