There are several fantastic RV parks located around Hondo, Texas, which itself is located just outside of San Antonio. The city of San Antonio is the seventh most populated city in the United States and is considered the fastest growing of the top 10 largest cities in the U.S. Nearby towns like Hondo provide endless opportunities for outdoor recreation in the scenic Texas Hill Country.

At the Hill Country State Natural Area there are recreational activity centers around 40 miles of designated multi-use trails perfect for hiking, biking, or horseback riding. Visit the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum nearby, which is located in the heart of the southern half of the Texas Hill Country, which boasts miles of twisting roads perfect for two or three-wheeled excursions. The museum itself displays a collection of machines from around the world dating from the 1910’s to modern day specimens.

Lost Maples State Natural Area offers the entire family hiking, fishing, birding, and opportunities for stargazing and hunting for geocaches. Choose from 30 RV campgrounds with water and electricity or backpack to one of the six primitive campgrounds. Nearby Vanderpool is home to the Vanderpool Leakey Loop, which is a popular 60 mile bike ride.

By far the most popular natural destination in the Southern half of the Texas Hill Country is Garner State Park. Located in Uvalde County, visitors are welcome to partake in swimming, hiking, and to take in the beautiful scenery the park has to offer. There are many miles of hiking trails and camping options. The park has more than 14 hundred acres and offers over 11 miles of trails.
