Lake Cunningham - also referred to as the "C", is a 390-acre lake surrounded by a 1,050-acre park located in north-central Omaha, Nebraska. The lake was constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for flood control and recreation and opened to the public in 1977. Split Rock Park houses both RV and tent camping sites which include 30/50 amp sites, boat launch areas that are perfect for canoes and kayaks, a small swimming area north of the dam, a beautiful view of three unique bridges, playground, fishing areas, and an old Sioux Quartzite visitor center that houses a small museum and snack area. The Jesse James Pontoon sets sail by appointment during the summer months, showcasing the beautiful rock canyons and wildlife that is found north of the park. South of the dam is another kayak and canoe launch, which allows for travel down to Palisades State Park by water. With downtown Garretson just three short blocks away and Devil's Gulch right next door, Split Rock Park is a wonderful space to camp and play.
