MoonStream Vintage Campground offers a unique camping / glamping experience at the base of the mountains in beautiful Buena Vista, Colorado. Come stay just minutes away from all of the hiking, biking, rafting, snow-shoeing and snowmobiling that the Collegiate Peaks and the San Isabel National Forest have to offer. We have boutique RV sites and in-place Airstream staycations available nightly, weekly, or monthly. All of our sites have full hook-ups, with their own fire rings, picnic tables, and incredible views - yet we offer something different from the typical RV Park: spacious sites set back from your neighbors, free wifi to all sites, quiet creekside pathways and picnic areas for your enjoyment, and two large communal fire pits for all of your ‘mallow-roasting and campfire singalong needs. We pride ourselves on creating a camping experience like that from days gone by - emphasizing community, comfort, and outdoor enjoyment above all. While we don’t offer such amenities as cable TV or laundry, we hope you’ll appreciate the unique magic of MoonStream's vintage camp experience!

Area Tips

MoonStream Vintage Campground is located at the base of Cottonwood Pass just 5 minutes west of Buena Vista, CO.

The Arkansas River, just minutes to the east, offers some of the best whitewater in the country. Check out our friends at The Adventure Company (theadventurecompany.com) for all your river adventures.

With the 4-mile Recreation Area just east of the Arkansas River and numerous other mountain-top routes to the west, we are a mountain biker's and off-roader's paradise. And in the winter time, Cottonwood Pass closes to automobiles and opens up to snowmobiles.

To wind down, Cottonwood Hot Springs is just 5 minutes to the west, and Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort is 15 minutes to the south. Cottonwood Lake (no motors allowed), 15 minutes up the pass, has great fishing – though we’ve caught brown trout in the creek right here on the property.

Numerous hiking trails - including the Continental Divide Trail and the Colorado Trail - can be accessed just minutes away up Cottonwood Pass, and there are trailheads for thirteen Fourteeners within a 45-minute drive (Mt. Princeton's 14,197' summit is under 4 hours from your campsite...if you hustle). In the winter, there are endless opportunities for backcountry skiing and snowshoeing. If you're into backcountry skiing or splitboarding, or want to try it out for the first time, get in touch with Buena Vista Mountain Adventures (bvmountainadventures.com).

Upon your return to civilization, check out the bars, restaurants, and shops on Main Street or South Main in Buena Vista, or catch a showing at the Comanche Drive-In Theater just a few hundred yards up the road.

We think the best food in the valley is 50 Burger down in Salida, but if you’re looking to stay a little closer, we think Buena Vista’s best meal can be found at Wesley & Rose at the Surf Hotel. And for a night out, the Deerhammer Distillery on Main Street and Eddyline Brewery across from the library are super cool spots.

This site is only big enough for truck campers, vans, or small motorhomes. The space is literally 25' long by 8' wide. There is a picnic table and fire ring, and also a 1977 Airstream Excella that we are in the process of renovating. Until the Airstream is complete, we figured we'd open up the parking spot to small rigs looking for hookups in the valley.

We had another fabulous weekend... Moonstream vintage campground is our favorite place to stay when we come to Buena Vista. The location, the comfort of the airstream trailers is absolutely phenomenal! Would love to come back every weekend! We will see you again...

Cute little place, the owner came over to greet us when we arrived. I was very surprised to see all the tiny homes (8) on their property. From what I could tell there were only 3, maybe 4 spaces for RV's.

Really special spot. Only 3-4 RV sites plus the "cabins." Views are pretty nice. Best part is full power, water, sewer, 2 minutes to town. super convenient.

Step back in time and enjoy a rustic slice of Colorado mountains in the middle of the Collegiate Peaks area. We enjoyed the quaint "village" concept of this smaller campground. There's a mix of RV sites, tiny homes and fixed vintage RV's for rent. Each site has a fire ring, outdoor seating and full hookups. They offer firewood for sale and are building out a bath house. The property is quiet and spacious with views galore. Don't miss the pathway down to the river where you will find a relaxing place (or many) to sit or explore. The owners are lovely. And you can't beat the location close to the historic downtown of Buena Vista, hiking, nearby hot springs, and the Arkansas River. We would definitely stay here again.

This place is great. Pros... the creek/river running through the edge of the property is so relaxing and beautiful. It is a small campground which makes it peaceful. The owners are so kind and attentive to their guests needs. It will be nice when the bathroom is completed.

Outstanding views of Collegiate Peaks! Owners are so kind and thoughtful. They truly care about their facility and want to ensure one has the best experience! The stream is a HUGE bonus. The paths to the stream are excellently maintained. There are lots of chairs, benches etc, so you can sit and enjoy the stream. We will be back!!

This was our second time staying in Long Teal Sally at Moonstream and we had an awesome time! This year we had our baby with us and having the amenities that the campground offers makes camping a breeze with a baby. The town of BV is also super cute and there is a ton of outdoor activities nearby.

If you've been to Buena Vista you know that rocks and boulders, some really huge are abundant! It turns out that they can be used to make a very artistic and fun to explore RV Park! From tiny homes you can book a stay in to rv sites, a path that leads to the running river with all you need to enjoy an hour or two relaxing or playing corn hole, and really fantastic hosts, this rv park is a destination spot. Patrick, the owner, even offered to come and see if he could fix my new hot water heater when it stopped making hot water. It turned out to be just a fuse...🥳. This park is not a big operation which makes it a great mountain retreat. I very much recommend and thanks to the hosts for accommodating me when I needed a couple extra days over my reservation because my site at my next stop was undergoing water tap replacement! That was so kind.

Patrick, the owner, was so kind and communicative about our stay. We had to have a part shipped to his house to repair our van and he helped accommodate that request, even being out of town at the time for the holidays. The location is great (close to BV and Cottonwood Hot Springs) and the hangout spots down by the creek look like a great place to relax in the summer. The only drawback is that the sites are very close together and very minimalistic (no trees or shrubs) so there’s no privacy. Trash, recycling and even dog waste bags on site, which is great! The vintage RVs and tiny homes look like they’d be fun to stay in.
