Hattie has a history. The Hattie Sherwood Campground is part of Hattie Sherwood Park, a beautiful multi-acre park that was deeded to the city in the 1920's as an honorarium to Hattie Sherwood Kutchin, the granddaughter of John Sherwood, one of the founding settlers of Dartford in the 1840's. The terms of the deed contained specific instructions about making sure the campground stayed as close to its original footprint as possible including all of the trees and other plantings at the time of the donation. Campers today will get a flavor of the beauty of old Green Lake amongst the soaring hardwood canopy, the views of the pond, the spectacular and vast array of birds and waterfowl and the lovely vistas of Big Green Lake. The campground features 37 sites, some assigned for camping only and others set to accept large motorhomes up to 42 feet. All sites have either 20, 30 or 50 amps of electrical available. Fully renovated bathrooms with showers are available on site.

Paul, we sure appreciate your great feedback. Yes, Camp Hattie is designed so all guests can enjoy the stunning views amidst the hilly landscape. It is such a beautiful spot and we are so glad you were our guest. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Chuck Wohltmann
Campground Response
Thank you Chuck for noticing the "clean up" efforts that have begun at Camp Hattie. Thus far over 54 dead trees (yes we are very sad) were taken out as they created very dangerous hazards. You probably also noticed there's 11 new hardwood trees that have been planted along with some very quick growing tall native shrubs to replace that "seclusion" you speak of. More efforts are underway after the season ends and hopefully the new will start to fill in so when you return you can have your private waterfront hideaway!!!

Brian Zunker
Campground Response
It is awfully disappointing you were not able to make contact with anyone. The phone number is posted in numerous places throughout the grounds and Camp Hattie's manager Quin is always available to assist at any time and happy to do so. It is unfortunate you had challenges in getting your 15' camper on the site chosen; it is a great site, very long, deep and wide. It is possible you could have been moved to a site more to your liking had contact been made with management. We are sorry this happened and sorry to hear you won't return.
Karen Edwards

Megan Johnson
Campground Response
Megan we are very sorry you were disappointed by the removal of the very scary dead ash trees. The emerald ash borer that has sadly made its way east to west across the US discovered the trove of beautiful tress at Camp Hattie and went to town. There's a lot of great info on line about the dangerous situations the tree damage creates; our first priority is the well being and safety of our campers. Good news, this spring 11 new hardwood trees were planted and more coming as funds allow. The electric has been updated and it appears more work is needed. We are sorry for the inconvenience. There are currently spots in the park that the ground is still too mucky to roll a tractor through. Hopefully over the next couple of weeks things will continue to dry a bit. We appreciate the feedback and look forward to seeing you again soon. Thank you!!
Susan Hemmen
Campground Response

Thank you for your input on the site sizes and letting us know they need some more attention. How our Camp Hattie guests feel about the camp sites is very important to us so we appreciate the feedback!! Happy Trails...see you again soon.

Josh Seaman
Campground Response
Thank you so much Josh for being our guest. We are awfully sorry your site was kind of muddy. As you may be aware, Camp Hattie has been undergoing some major renovations including site leveling. With all the rain we have had thus far the "healing" process for the sites has been rather slow. Hopefully some summery warm sunlight will help to harden the ground. Next time we will be happy to work with you to ensure you are on more level, dry ground. Safe travels til your return!!
