Enjoy acres and acres of land to explore as well as clear-cut hiking and biking trails and a few places set aside for horseback riding. Campers can also enjoy picnicking at the various sites. Be sure to look up at sunrise and sunset to catch the amazing New Mexico sky show. If you're looking for a serene escape into nature, this is the spot for you!

El Vado Lake is located in New Mexico and is a popular spot for outdoor enthusiasts. Be sure to bring your reel for excellent trout and salmon fishing, swimming and boating at over 7,000 feet up. Campers enjoy this sit particularly for its fresh, crisp air and gorgeous views of the valley below. Its also great for hiking and mountain biking so don't miss out on that as well as the winter sports made popular by the mountains slopes. At an over 6,100 foot elevation and nestled between two high sandstone bluffs is the Villanueva National Park. There's tons of excellent outdoor activities to enjoy, so get ready for great fishing, birding, wildlife viewing, wildflower viewing or mountain biking. Visitors especially love to hike the various trails, so get ready to explore the gorgeous forestry that climbs up the bluffs and runs through the canyon. At an elevation of over 7,000 feet, the Lobo Canyon Campground is perfectly situated for excellent picnic-friendly weather. Enjoy time spent with family and friends, surrounded by lush ponderosa, juniper and pinion and plenty of shade. Enjoy hiking the interpretive trails and biking among the hills, but be careful not to intrude on sacred Indian territory that will be marked off. 

Enjoy spectacular sights at the Wild River's Campground including deep, steep-sided canyons carved out by the Rio Grande River and the Red River through beautiful, volcanic rock. Go hiking on one of the three trails that descend to the river. Most campers visit for the camping, but there's plenty of sight seeing, photography and biking to be done, so bring everything you need to explore!

The Elephant Rock Campground is located in the Carson National Forest, and is well-known for the Red River and Eagle Rock Lake being nearby. Campers can look forward to excellent fishing at the lakes, as well as opportunities for kayaking, swimming and boating. Visitors can also expect great hiking trails and large open areas for picnicking and exploring. The area is thick with thriving forestry, so prepare for some spectacular views, and occasional bird or deer roaming the mountain regions. 

At an elevation of over 9,800 feet, Hopewell Lake Campground is filled not only with gorgeous mountain ranges and forestry, but crisp, fresh air. Located between Tres Pierdas and Tierra Amarilla, expect excellent outdoor activities such as horseback riding, hiking and tons of mountain biking. You can also fish for rainbow trout and brook at the 14 acres that makeup Hopewell Lake. Picnicking is another popular activity, and it's even better at dusk when you can enjoy beautiful New Mexico sunsets and star gazing. It's the perfect spot for your next quiet, nature getaway. 

The Gallinas River Campground is located in the beautiful town of Las Vegas, New Mexico and is a great spot for an authentic outdoor escape. Campers can look forward to a number of outdoor activities such as wind surfing, boating, hiking, fishing and bird watching, and there's plenty of open space for hiking, ATV touring and clear skies for sunset viewing and stargazing. The South Area Campground is located at the Storrie Lake State Park and is a popular site for outdoor activities and some serene lakeside relaxation. Enjoy wildlife viewing while you hike the various trails around the park, so be sure to back not only your binoculars, but your hiking shoes! The area is also well-known for excellent fishing, windsurfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, water skiing, caoneing and boating. The area can get hot, but look forward to crisp, fresh breezes off the lake, which keeps the temperature ideal for outdoor activities. Also be sure to be outside at dusk to catch one of New Mexico's iconic sunsets. Lose yourself in the tall pines of the Little Oso Primitive Campground at the Heron Lake State Park in New Mexico. The lake is designated a "quiet lake," so boat operators cannot ride at wake speeds. At an 8,300 foot elevation, the campground enjoys mild weather conditions and fresh breezes. As such, fisherman, boaters, campers, hikers and wildlife enthusiasts are commonplace at the park, and an abundance of animals make Eagle Nest Lake an ideal location for wildlife viewing.

The Blanco Campground is located in the Heron Lake State Park, Los Ojos, New Mexico. The picturesque Heron Lake is located among the  gorgeous talls pines native to New Mexico, and long-time campers love this area because it's a designated "quiet lake." Boat operators cannot get up to wake speeds, meaning there's not only peacefulness for visitors to enjoy, but a still water surface for canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Campers also love fishing at this lake. Look forward to kokanee salmon and record-size trout.
