Very nice spot for an overnighter. The gentleman that runs the place will bend over backwards to help you out.

For people that give this place poor rating, they haven't spent much time camping. If your expecting luxurious "Glamping" rent a spot at a KOA and spend 3 times as much! For what we paid, I feel it was a fair, heck the service and kindness alone was worth the price! I'll be back!

Super friendly and accommodating! Feel free to call the office direct! We arrived late but they were still there to be sure we found our spot and allowed us to settle up in the morning. We didn't use any of the services but water and electric as we didn't even unhook. After a long drive stay safe and get some rest. We'll definitely be seeing them again!

People were friendly and helpful. Bathroom/shower are a big deal with our family. They were old, rundown and dirty.

It was so run down!!! Very poor place and shouldn’t be advertised with pics from years ago!!! False advertisement !!

Ok except for one thing I’d say this is a 3 star based on conditions today. However there are new owners who are quite helpful and are working on improvements. I’d ignore those earlier very scary reviews. Very quiet and crazy easy pull throughs. No real amenities at this time. Worked out very well for us. Anytime I don’t need to use leveling blocks I’m a happy boy. Stayed at an upscale resort on a concrete pad the night before where I did. Give this one a year or two and likely a 5.

Brand new to RVing. Just got our first travel trailer. Was running behind due to dealership issues. I called ahead to let him know. Paul was very nice and awesome offering to come help us hook up. Although we didn’t need help, it was nice to know we could’ve called. It was very quiet. Our pull thru spot was plenty big for us. Definitely would recommend it if you’re traveling thru Georgia.

We had a great time, and the owner was so helpful. He called to check on us when we didn't arrive at the time I said we would, drove us around the site to find a good spot, loaned us a corkscrew to open a bottle of wine, showed us where everything was, and was just super friendly and made us feel welcome.

Facilities were poor. Showers/restrooms poor. Power supply at site DID NOT include a circuit breaker. Management was very helpful & friendly.

A hidden gem in the foothills of South Georgia. Southern Gates RV Park is a sweet, up-and-coming location to spend a night on your travels. The owners are very honest, kind people who recently came into the property last year (2020). Throughout our stay, they were working hard on the upkeep of the park and giving it a metaphorical fresh coat of paint. We were given a large pull-through full-hook-up site that was very easy to drive into and out of, and had no issues with any of the hookups. The amenities and facilities were clean and they were very pet-friendly! Although it’s less than 5 minutes off highway 75, the park is nestled in a soundproofed wooded area so you don’t feel like you’re right off the highway.

this campground was not what it was advertised. pictures showed a clean campground with clean pool and playground and many campers and grounds well kept. this was not at all what we witnessed. it was very unkept, pool was not usable, no attendant at the site, fishing pond was not accessable. it looked like a run down mobile home park and we had small children that had nothing to do. very dangerous for small children. will be requesting a total refund of the money they charged.

I have the site a three star rating but I’m confident it will soon rank as a four star. The owners took possession of the park in November of 2020 and it is clear they have made progress in cleaning up the park but there is some work to do. For the price, this was a great one-night location. The park was quiet with level, well-spaced lots. We would gladly stay there again.

Char Waughtel

This is a beautiful campgrounds with lots of foliage between the sites for privacy. The campgrounds are quiet with quick access to the ocean. We will stay again.

This place is more like primitive than a resort. Reminds me of a 1960 camp ground. We spent the next two days killing ants that made a home in our van.

Site was not level and we had to move trash before setting up. They did honor the Rover price but they did not want to. Several unleashed dogs in the mornings including pit bulls. If we stopped again it would be just for a quick overnight.

I pulled in around 9:30pm and the woman manager had me come into the office to register and as she was explaining the Park she said, "I'm giving you directions to the men's room because if you use the ladies room, men here will walk in on you." I was too tired to find another Camp. at 12:30pm my dogs started barking and I saw a man standing near the door to my trailer. It was a full moon I saw him clearly. I yelled, "Get him Franke! Get him Franke!" while holding my revolver. The man was startled and ran off. 20 minutes later a small car pulled into the space next to mine and a man got out of the car and leaned against the driver's side. He stood there looking at my trailer for some time before driving off. I slept with my gun in my hand relying on my dogs for a warning. Horrible experience!

Was told if I took review down I would get my refund so I did and still never got a refund so my review is going back up. THIEVES!!!! BEWARE!!!!! I never write bad reviews, however this place deserves it. My husband, myself, and our two babies just moved back to town and were looking for a long term rv site so my husband could start his new job and we could build our house so we chose here since it was close to family. We reserved for 1 week which was $150 on 8-9-20. We get to our site which was unmaintained, I was told I had to park directly behind our camper which wouldn’t have been an issue had the site not been mud. I was afraid our blocks would move and our rv would roll and damage my vehicle but I did so anyways. We got set up and started having issues in our rv. We realized it needed to be taken to be warrantied so the next day 8-10-20 we left to do so. As we packed up the rv was COVERED AND FILLED WITH ANTS that we had previously NOT had. We are neat freaks and take pride in a tidy home especially with a toddler and newborn. The ants were all in my car and my husbands truck!!!!! We went to the front to get our refund since we had only stayed 1 night. The lady was rude and called me a LIAR!!!!! And REFUSED to give me a refund right then and refused to give me a refund receipt stating it would be credited back to our account. I finally got a receipt for $38 for 1 night but nothing else stating the remaining amount would be refunded. I called yesterday 8-20-20 to see where our refund was and all I kept getting was “ILL LOOK INTO IT”. This is unacceptable!!!!!!! WE WANT OUR REFUND SINCE WE DID NOT STAY THERE!!!!!

Scary place, owner likes to beat on people’s doors at 7:30 in the morning to tell them they parked on the grass. Avoid at all cost. Lots of other well kept RV parks nearby.
