The Rock Creek Road RV Campground is located about 14.6 miles north of McAlester, Oklahoma and is a great spot for an enjoyable and relaxing camping trip. Travelers can look forward to fresh air, plenty of wide open spaces and gorgeous views to enjoy at sunsets, stargazing and picnicking. There's also opportunities for nature walking, kayaking, canoeing, boating and fishing at the Lake Eufaula. Amenities at the park include: water, sewerage, 30/50 amp sites, laundry facilities, storm shelter, full hookups, pull thrus and big rig access. No Wifi, tent camping or Shower/restrooms. In and around the city of McAlester are a number of great local attractions such as: - The McAlester Scottish Rite Temple - Krebs Heritage Museum - Tannehill Museum - Choctaw Casino McAlester - Great Balls of Fire Game Center - SOFA Art Gallery - Whispering Meadows Winery - Urban Wineworks And of course, there's plenty of excellent Oklahoma eateries to sample and enjoy local flavors. Rains, snow, flat tires (We hope not!), illness (We hope not!), alien abduction (Not too likely.). We're doing this by request only. Go ahead and request to book and we'll make sure you're informed before you choose to lock in your reservation. We're not so strict most of the year. Thanks for understanding! * Check-ins must be before Monday. Please be here by Sunday night. We want you to avoid the traffic and last-minute stressors. * We strongly suggest you stay over Monday night. Let everyone else in the area clear out while you chill on the river. * We will be marking off 20' x 20' site spaces. They are still first-come/first-served. Expect to be close to your new friends. Unless you are early, expect that you may be away from the river, over by the creek or the RV area. But, no more than a few minutes walk. The whole campground is pretty, we promise. * Tenters may be asked to park away from their tent. We'll keep you as close as we can (within walking distance) and you will be able to drive to your site to pick-up/drop-off. * Please leave your pets at home. * We will be selling ice and firewood. Our suppliers are small businesses, too. We will have as much as they can keep up with. * Bring extra TP. We will have extra compost toilets. * Electricity will be limited to cell phone charging and other small electronics. Please do not bring heaters. * Keep alcohol consumption within reasonable levels. Talk with the office for regular pricing. ** Shaded, semi-primitive, non-defined (first come/first served) camping. You may even score a riverfront spot, depending on when you arrive. Many people prefer along the shady creek. We have 15 beautiful shaded acres, so you'll definitely find a spot. Please note, when you are looking at the map, the numbered areas are RV sites, Not tent camping. Look for the areas on the Campground Map that say "camping".  The big E denotes shared electrical hookups.  We have big clean bathrooms and hot showers. Camping areas are both near and far from small rustic cabins and RVs. Choose secluded locations or new friends. Shared electricity in some places. Bring your long extension cord. We also have a little shop that likely has anything you forgot. A full grocery store is 8 miles away, also. We sell firewood, ice and ice cream, too! NOTE: If the office is closed, pick a spot and check-in in the morning. Fire, Ice, and WIFIDuring peak season, we sell ice. We have firewood all year. The firewood is in the big metal box by the office ($8/bundle) and the ice ($4/bag) is by the bathhouse. There is basic WIFI that works for WIFI-calling but is not always reliable for streaming services. We are working on upgrading the campground WIFI in 2024. If you need solid WIFI for a conference call, we can set you up in our upstairs office.
