About an hour away is the town of Santa Rose which is filled with cultural nuances, eateries and attractions, so be sure to take a day trip out there!

Set against the breathtaking Sacramento Mountains, the Oliver Lee Memorial park features a historic ranch house, quiet camping in the Chihuahuan Desert, and the unique oasis of pools of water under the cottonwood trees of Dog Canyon. Visitors can look forward to a short walk on the Riparian Nature Trail or a challenging hike up the Dog Canyon Trail, as well as acres and acres of beautiful desert vistas. The park associations also holds educational programs which is great for campers hoping to learn more about the wildlife and where to catch glimpses of the various birds that call the park home. The area is also perfect for sight seeing; look up at dawn or dusk to see the iconic New Mexico sky and pause in awe over those spectacular reds and oranges. 

The Ranch is located on the northern edge of the Chihuahuan Deset in Lakewood, New Mexico. The owners hold multiple great activities throughout the year such as spring events and parties, roundups, shows and celebrations surrounding various calendar holidays. In this gorgeous desert environment, visitors can look forward to wildlife viewing. Keep your eyes open for: the coachwhip snake, New Mexican whiptail lizard, cactus wren and tiger salamander. Escondida Lake Park is located in Socorro, New Mexico and is a beautiful natural oasis. At the lake, enjoy plenty of peaceful fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking, as well as gorgeous sunsets over the water's surface. Visitors can also look forward to open, spacious vistas for exploring and hiking, and be sure to visit the gem/science museum at the local college. The area also has excellent small town eateries that showcase the culinary skill and creativity of the residents. 

Located just 14 miles southeast of Roswell, New Mexico is the Bottomless Lake campground. Enjoy an almost insane number of outdoor activities, so get your water-proof sunscreen out and packed.
