Look forward to water activities such as: fishing, boating and kayaking and plenty of open spaces for hiking and exploring. There is a nearby equestrian trail as well as scenic byways for wildlife viewing.

There's also a number of city parks for campers to look forward to, as well as the Lake Rita Blanca Park for scenic viewing, hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing and paddle boarding. The Valley View Mobile Home & RV Park is located in Fort Sumner, New Mexico, and is a great spot to sight see, especially for the Billy The Kid Museum. The Shady Side Campground is located at Sumner Lake, New Mexico and the reservoir is a popular spot for visitors. If you like to fish, you'll fall in love with Shade Side and all the crappie, walleye, catfish and large mouth bass you can catch, and if you fish after dusk, get ready for some spectacular sunsets. Still out after night fall? Get a blanket or find a picnic table to enjoy stellar stargazing through a clear, unpolluted atmosphere. There's also plenty of space on the water for sports such as boating, swimming and kayaking, so bring your equipment for adventures at the reservoir! There are also quite a few deer and waterside birds so keep your eyes open, and your cameras handy.

The Boomtown RV Park is located in Santa Rosa, New Mexico and is in a quiet, cozy town that's perfect for a relaxing vacation. Enjoy the local diners and eateries, and go exploring along Route 66 which is close by. The facility is well-managed and clean, with plenty of options to take care of all types of campers. The La Loma RV Park is located in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, just beside Route 66. There are a number of beautiful lakes and ponds in the area, perfect for fishing, picnicking, swimming or just enjoying at dusk. Be sure to visit the shops in the area for crafts, souvenirs and local eats. The Santa Rose Blue Hole is a definite treat so make some time during your vacation to visit it!

Just north of Portales New Mexico is the regional beauty of the Oasis State Park. It is set among cottonwood trees, shifting sand dunes and a small fishing lake. Although fishing is the park's main attraction, also look forward to excellent hiking trails, mountain biking trails, picnic areas, and a peaceful shady campground and an abundance of birds.  

The Kiowa National Grassland is a primitive campsite located in Mills, New Mexico. The area is surrounded by juniper and pinion pine which rings the top of Mills Canyon; although there's not very much shade for people, if you bring your horses, you're sure to find shade for them. The area is popular for its wide, open spaces, providing plenty of room for ATV enthusiasts, equestrians and portable corrals. With hundreds of acres of wild, desert land, this park is perfect for clear skies and star gazing, biking and exploring, so feel free to go out there and explore! The park has tent sites and tent pads, but no amenities beyond that, so bring everything you need for a distraction-free stay. We hope you visit soon!
