St. Stephens Historical Park is the site of one of the most important historical and archaeological sites in Alabama. St. Stephens was the site of a Spanish fort, an American fort, and the Alabama Territorial Capital. The historic site of Old St. Stephens is a valuable cultural resource that enhances and informs our understanding of the lives of the early settlers along the frontier of our new nation in the 1800s.In addition to the historical sites, the park boasts over 15 miles of trails for hiking and horseback riding, a 70-acre quarry lake with a sandy beach, fishing, boating, an 18-hole disc golf course, and bird watching. The park has tent camping sites, over 40 RV sites with full hook-ups, and 9 cabins for rent. There is a boat launch into the Tombigbee River and into our lake. Holmes Creek Camping & RV Resort is located on Highway 79 about 45 minutes North of Panama City Beach. The campground property connects to Holmes Creek, and guests can launch kayaks, paddle boards or canoes at the paddle launch on site. There are several boat landings in the area, if you wish to launch your motor boat for a boat ride or even go fishing.
