Rules

Campfires

If you'd like to book a campfire for $30 for 3 hours, please give us a call to make your reservation. We look forward to assisting you!

During winter, please note that water hookups may not be available or limited. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

To secure your exclusive pavilion reservation, kindly get in touch with us directly. We look forward to assisting you. Extra vehicles might need to park in a designated area.

A single tent can be set up on your pull-through or back-in RV sites for an additional $10.00 per night. Additional tents must camp in the designated tent camping area at the prevailing rate.

The maximum rental period is 30 days, renewable based on space and discretion of management. Deposit required for 30 day reservations.

Registration

We look forward to greeting you. Please sign in at the office before entering the campground (if you are arriving during normal business hours).

Check in and check out time is 12:00 noon. Ask management for early check in or check out (we’re very accommodating).

Guest Policy

Mi casa es su casa! If you are inviting guests to your campsite, please ask that they sign in at the office as well. They are obliged to follow these same simple rules and respect our other guests.

Relax and enjoy the peaceful setting. Quiet hours are 10 PM to 8 AM.

Speed Limit

The speed limit is 5 mph throughout the park. Please remain alert for small children and bicycles.

Campfires are allowed in the fire rings at each site. If you are making S’mores invite management. Please, no unattended fires.

Please do not move or relocate fire rings without permission from management. We are trying hard to maintain our grassy areas.

There is a larger fire ring next to the pavilion for your use when gathering with friends.

Please douse your fire before retiring. We love the smell of burning hickory but our shade trees and green space are important to us.

Use of Pavilion

Normally, the pavilion and its amenities are available to all guests, but occasionally we will rent it and reserve its exclusive use for larger groups for special occasions. In those cases it will be posted. See management for details.

We ask that you purchase firewood on site. This will prevent the spread of disease.

Fishing

Go fishing in our stocked fishing pond. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult while fishing. Neither residents nor non-residents under the age of 16, require a license to fish in Iowa.

There are two dumpsters on site. One is by the maintenance shed, the other is on the side of the office. Please do not burn trash, cans or bottles.

Pets

Pet owners are responsible for their pets. Pets must be on a leash and please don’t tie the leash to a picnic table or tree. And PLEASE pick up after your pet. Nothing spoils a weekend quicker than a child tracking pet waste into a camper or tent. Pets are not allowed in the shower and restrooms. Call if you have more than 2 pets.

Sorry, no clotheslines. It’s a danger to children on bicycles or pedestrians walking between sites.

EV Charging

Electric Vehicles Traveling with an EV? We can offer a recharge and get you on the road, but don’t plug your EV into your RV site. Learn how you can recharge during your stay under Park Amenities. Ask management for assistance..

We spent the weekend tent camping and had an absolute blast here! We had booked a primitive site but when John saw that we had kids he placed us in a site that had electrical outlets at no additional charge, we believe because this was near the playground, which was just across the road from us! He brought us enough fire wood to last the weekend and checked in on us regularly. The restrooms were kept really clean and well stocked with TP & paper towels and hot water! Also, because we were the only tent campers on the grounds, we had free reign of all three of the electrical tent sites for harvesting kindling and sticks to get our fires going again. Our kids had a blast, made some new friends, and some screen-free memories. Thanks John!

Clean, comfortable, and friendly staff--John is a treasure! Yes, the facilities are older, but they are immaculately clean and well-maintained, even in winter. Plenty of hot water in the showers! We were very safe and comfortable there. Hickory Haven will be our home-away-from-home every time we are in the Tri-State area, which for us is at least four times a year.

Very nice campground with level full hook up sites. The owners are very nice and helpful. My only complaint is that despite booking a choice site with no campsites on the roadside of the camper, 2 months in advance and paying a "site lock fee" there was a RV in it that was not leaving until the next day. They did put us in another site but we had motorhomes on each side. They also refunded the site lock fee, but it was not our site of choice.

We stayed 11 nights. John and Linda are very accommodating to their guests. Extra clean shower and bathroom facilities. Close to shopping and grocery stores. We overpaid due to needing more time for a funeral and the overpayment was happily and promptly returned to our card.

Great shaded, pull through site. It was close to Keokuk for a walk near the Mississippi River. An overnight stop for us with everything we needed, a full hookup.
