The Chilatchee Creek Campground is located on its namesake at scenic Dannelly Reservoir in Alabama's Black Prairie Belt. The reservoir sits on the Alabama River and covers roughly 27 square miles, boasting more than 500 miles of shoreline. The park offers excellent fishing for bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish, and numerous fishing tournaments and annual festivals are held in the immediate area.   Amenities & Activities The campground features amenities such as: an accessible playground, drinking water, dump station, electrical hook-ups, fish cleaning stations, laundry facilities, parking area, picnic shelters, ranger station, showers and plenty of opportunities for wildlife viewing.   Attractions You can also look forward to the breathtaking natural terrain and its rolling grasslands, wildlife viewing opportunities, Dannelly reservoir and Alabama River.   Whitetail deer and wild turkeys roam the park, creating excellent bow-hunting opportunities. St. Stephens Historical Park is the site of one of the most important historical and archaeological sites in Alabama. St. Stephens was the site of a Spanish fort, an American fort, and the Alabama Territorial Capital. The historic site of Old St. Stephens is a valuable cultural resource that enhances and informs our understanding of the lives of the early settlers along the frontier of our new nation in the 1800s.In addition to the historical sites, the park boasts over 15 miles of trails for hiking and horseback riding, a 70-acre quarry lake with a sandy beach, fishing, boating, an 18-hole disc golf course, and bird watching. The park has tent camping sites, over 40 RV sites with full hook-ups, and 9 cabins for rent. There is a boat launch into the Tombigbee River and into our lake.
