The City of Rocks State Park gets its name from the incredible volcanic rock formations found here. The park is a mile from the scenic Chihuahuan Desert Region of southwest New Mexico, and stands at an elevation of 5,200 feet. The geological formation is made up of large, sculpted rock columns and pinnacles rising as high as 40 feet, and separated by paths or lanes resembling streets. After years of natural erosion, the formations have an almost other-worldly appearance, filling the landscape like towers against the beautiful New Mexico sky. 

The Peloncillo Mountains Campground is located in the beautiful Coronado National Forest and is a great place to relax and enjoy the pristine terrain of the southwest. Onsite, there's also a diverse and breathtaking terrain, perfect for exploring and scenic viewing. Travelers can also look forward to local landmarks like the Chiricahua National Monument, Saguaro National Park and the Tumacacori National Historic Park. Among these parks and the Grand Canyon, campers can enjoy some of the southwest's most iconic scenes and geological formations, as well as the excellent river rafting, climbing, hiking and mountain biking that accompanies these sites. There's also historical treasures nearby including the Cases Grande Ruins National Monument Fort Bowie National Historic Site and the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. For even more Arizona fun, the Kartchner Caverns and San Pedro National Riparian Conservatory Area are also relatively close by.

The Grapevine Campground is located at the Gila National Forest and is a great place for exploring the beauty and serenity of the mountainous regions of Silver City. The east and west Gila River's join to offer campers excellent opportunities to fish and relax by the waterside, and there's also plenty of trails and easy-to-maneuver areas for hiking. The Sapillo Group Campground is located in the Gila National Forest and is a beautiful place to retreat into nature, and get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Look forward to plenty of fresh air and acres upon acres of untouched land to explore. Campers especially love hiking and biking the trails, but you also have the option to go to the downtown Silver City area to experience the local attractions there. Get ready for a look into the history and culture of New Mexico with sits like the Ancient Indian Ruins, Spirit of the Mountains Scenic Byway and Gila Cliff Dwellings Monument. There's also tons of art galleries, live shows and great, local eateries to enjoy. 

The Pancho Villa park is home to numerous historical exhibits from the battle that happened at this small town in 1916. History buffs and New Mexico enthusiasts alike flock to this site to see the museum which is free for campers, and to experience the remnants of this crucial part of the Mexican- American war. The park is also only a few miles from the southern border, so if you cross, be sure to visit the Pink Store. If you like the iconic desert terrain of New Mexico, you'll especially love this park, and the sights of those beautifully red sunrises and sunsets the area is known for.

The Belle Star Silverado Ranch is located in Douglas, Arizona and is the perfect spot for a quiet getaway. The grounds are clean and well-maintained, with staff known to be friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the area. There isn't much surrounding the park, so be sure to pack all that you need, as well as boots and a bike to day hike and bike your way across those iconic desert plains. All bring a blanket to stargaze at night!
