Set against the breathtaking Sacramento Mountains, the Oliver Lee Memorial park features a historic ranch house, quiet camping in the Chihuahuan Desert, and the unique oasis of pools of water under the cottonwood trees of Dog Canyon. Visitors can look forward to a short walk on the Riparian Nature Trail or a challenging hike up the Dog Canyon Trail, as well as acres and acres of beautiful desert vistas. The Lake Van Recreation is located in Dexter, New Mexico on Lake Van. This is an especially popular site, not just for excellent fishing and boating opportunities on the lake, but also for its proximity to several excellent attractions. Visitors can take advantage of day trips to the Carlsbad Caverns and Roswell. These two sites in particular are fun and exciting spots where campers can learn some interesting facts about New Mexico's geological landscape and history with the "unknown." The area is also great for immersing yourself in pristine terrain, so don't forget to carve out time to hike or bike through the various trails.

Located in the Lincoln National Forest, New Mexico are the Bluff Springs Dispersed Campsites. It is a partially developed picnic area with dispersed campsites with spectacular mountain views, and beautiful forestry all around. Take one of the trails around clumps of wildflowers, and be sure to catch at least one sunset or sunrise; have a camera handy! There's also a few small waterfalls within the park so keep your eyes open for that! Most visitors to this site go off to the Cloudcroft village to take advantage of the local sights and do some gift or food shopping. Maybe you'll be in time for one of the three annual festivals that take place in Zenith Park in the village.

The Quail Run Campground is located in Elephant Butte, New Mexico and is a great spot for a quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of the state's big cities. The campground is relatively close to the Rio Grande river, so take a day trip out there to visit the marina and go sailing. The area is also perfect for hiking, biking and great sight seeing. Facing the Sacramento mountains to the east, the Elks Lodge 1897 is for members and visiting Elks only, and is a quiet place to get away for a few days. With full hookups, 30/50 amp sites, laundry facilities, showers, restrooms, WIFI and a restaurant on-site, this is a Alamogordo favorite. Visitors can enjoy golfing at a nearby golf course, the space hall of fame, the oldest zoo located in Alamogordo, the White Sand National Monument nearby, skiing, gambling, fishing and zip-lining. The New Canyon Campground is located in Mountainair New Mexico in the Cibola National Forest. Look forward to acres and acres of juniper, ponderosa pine and gambel oaks as well as the fresh, crisp air that comes with such a thick and lush forest. Hit the short but scenic Coal Mine Natural Trail, or carve your own path through the trees whether hiking or mountain biking. Also look forward to picnicking, cave exploration and star gazing. This is an excellent place to immerse yourself in nature and have a peaceful, relaxing vacation.

The North Highlands Campground is located in the Elephant Butte Lake State Park and is a great place for a quiet escape into the beautiful vistas of New Mexico. Look forward to plenty of hiking and biking opportunities, plus lots to do at the lake. Bring your gear for paddle boarding, water skiing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and boating. There's also an insane expense of clear skies above for stargazing so be sure to set aside at least one evening to look up at the iconic New Mexico light show. 

The Elephant Butte Inn and Spa is one of Elephant Butte's most luxurious parks. Visitors can expect a gorgeous campus with beautiful almost tropical flowers, mixed in with the typical mix of New Mexico foliage. With sweeping views of the lake, sunrises and sunsets at this inn are spectacular. The inn is also close to the hot springs of Truth or Consequence, and visitors enjoy onside golfing, water sports, ghost town exploration, museums, hiking, water rafting, wind surfing, shopping, fishing and rockhounding. Located on the west bank of the Rio Grande river is the Senator Willie M Chavez State Park, just a few miles from downtown Belen.
