There's also plenty of space by the water for water sports like swimming, kayaking and some boating. While you're at the campsite, keep your eyes open for wildlife like elk, deer and moose, and don't be shy about exploring on foot or bike. There's plenty to see and experience. There's also nearby attractions for campers to enjoy, such as Hughes Creek and natural hot springs just 18 miles from the campground.

The Schumaker Campground is located in the Bitterroot National Forest and sits on the edge of Twin Lakes. Though no motorized water sports are allowed on the lake, campers can look forward to plenty of peace and stillness to go paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking, swimming and fishing. Campers can also take advantage of the trails for hiking and mountain biking, but are encouraged to keep their eyes open for deer, moose, elk, birds and small creatures. Be sure to rise early or be still at dusk to catch one of those gorgeous red sunrises and sunsets. You won't be disappointed!

The Martin Creek Campground is located in the Bitterroot National Forest near Martin Creek, so campers can expect acres and acres of thriving fir and pine trees as well as pristine waters perfect for trout fishing. Love exploring? Visitors have access to a trail head from this campground that takes them to Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness, or just go mountain biking around the various paths around the creek. Picnicking is also popular at this campground, so if you have a big group, be sure to pack sandwiches and just enjoy the day at one of the picnic areas. 

The Indian Trees Campground is located in the rugged Bitterroot National Forest. Campers can look forward to excellent fishing for cutthroat and other types of trout at the nearby Camp Creek. There's also several excellent hiking trails, so expect challenging paths along the Nez Perce National Historic Trail and a neighboring scenic trail. While visitors explore, they can keep their eyes open for wildlife such as mule and white-tailed deer, moose and elk, as well as smaller animals and birds. Big game hunting is popular at the Indian Trees Campground. Nearby are several great attractions like the Lost Trail hot Spring and neighboring creeks and streams. 

The Rombo Campground is located in a scenic area along the West Fork of the Bitterroot River, and is surrounded by yellow-bark poinderosa pine. Visitors can look forward to free air, and wide open spaces for hiking, biking and exploring, as well as the nearby river for water activities. This campground is popular for trout fishing at the river, as well as river rafting, boating and some swimming. The Painted Rocks Lake is also relatively close by for even more water fun and gorgeous views of the Montana wilderness. Also be sure to keep your eyes open for wildlife like deer, elk and curious moose, as well as the occasional small creature and bird. The Horse Creek Hot Spring is also nearby for a soak in pure, mineral water!

The Three Sisters Group Site Campground is located in the Bitterroot National Forest and is just across the road from the Rock Creek Horse Camp. Get ready for a gorgeous campsite with plenty of space to room and amenities to guarantee you a distraction-free stay. Visitors can look forward to fishing at Rock Creek, or just hanging out at the water's edge with friends; campers can also expect acres and acres of forestry for exploring, hiking and mountain biking, as well as picnic tables for group camping. 

The Sam Billings Memorial Campground is located in a scenic area along the West Fork of the Bitterroot River, and is surrounded by yellow-bark poinderosa pine. Visitors can look forward to free air, and wide open spaces for hiking, biking and exploring, as well as the nearby river for water activities. This campground is popular for trout fishing at the river, as well as river rafting, boating and some swimming. The Mission Lookout Cabin towers above the forest canopy, providing guests with unrivaled 360 degree views of the beautiful Swan Lake. At an elevation of over 3,700 feet, visitors can look forward to great weather and scenic views of the Flathead National Forest. Along with the spectacular scenery, the immediate area offers visitors an unlimited array of outdoor activities ranging from fishing and swimming at the nearby Swan Lake, to watching the migratory waterfowl at the wildlife area. Hunting is also popular not far from the lookout. Shooting within 150 yards of the lookout or from the road is not allowed. A variety of hiking and mountain biking trails can be found in the area.    

The Holland Lake Campground is located near the Holland Falls National Recreation Trail. At an elevation of over 4,500 feet, visitors can enjoy the mild weather, thick foliage and plenty of shade. There's also several excellent trails that take campers up and around some of the most beautiful spots of the Holland Falls area. Don't be shy! You don't have to limit yourself to hiking; get your mountain bike out of the garage and have a blast at these trails if you can. There's also plenty of fishing to be done at Holland Lake; there's a variety of trout and salmon and a wide lake surface that's perfect for canoeing, kayaking, swimming and boating.
