The City of Rocks State Park gets its name from the incredible volcanic rock formations found here. The park is a mile from the scenic Chihuahuan Desert Region of southwest New Mexico, and stands at an elevation of 5,200 feet. The geological formation is made up of large, sculpted rock columns and pinnacles rising as high as 40 feet, and separated by paths or lanes resembling streets. After years of natural erosion, the formations have an almost other-worldly appearance, filling the landscape like towers against the beautiful New Mexico sky. 

The Holloman AFB FamCamp is used for military professionals and is located within the New Mexico Air Base. The park is safe and well-known for its easy access to sights like the White Sands National Monument, Space History Museum, CLoudcroft, Pistacio Farms, Ruidoso, White Sands Missile Range and the Organ Mountains. Standing over 7,500 feet above the desert floor, campers can enjoy warm weather that's not too harsh, and plenty of fresh air. Also take advantage of the horseback riding, biking and wildlife watching at this site for a true taste of untouched New Mexico terrain.

The South Highlands Campground is located in the Elephante Butte Lake State Park and is in a secluded area perfect for an escape into the serene southwestern landscape. Explore the gorgeous desert vistas that are mixed in with hills and lakes, for a great outdoor adventure. Make your way down to the lake for water skiing, paddle boarding, fishing and of course swimming, and strap on your hiking boots to hit the trails on foot or bike. Walk to the nearby park office to chat with the rangers about the best canoeing, horseback riding and hiking spots in the area, and be sure to spread a blanket at least one evening to enjoy the cool twilight weather. The area is especially known for kite boarding and wind surfing so look forward to that!

Located in the Lincoln National Forest, New Mexico are the Bluff Springs Dispersed Campsites. It is a partially developed picnic area with dispersed campsites with spectacular mountain views, and beautiful forestry all around. Take one of the trails around clumps of wildflowers, and be sure to catch at least one sunset or sunrise; have a camera handy! There's also a few small waterfalls within the park so keep your eyes open for that! Most visitors to this site go off to the Cloudcroft village to take advantage of the local sights and do some gift or food shopping.
