The City of Rocks State Park gets its name from the incredible volcanic rock formations found here. The geological formation is made up of large, sculpted rock columns and pinnacles rising as high as 40 feet, and separated by paths or lanes resembling streets. After years of natural erosion, the formations have an almost other-worldly appearance, filling the landscape like towers against the beautiful New Mexico sky.
