Choice Camping Court was born in 1969 by the idea of Harold and Doris Wertz as a small 10 site campground on family farmland. They ran the campground for 40 years with smiles and humor every day. Harold was the biggest jokester and Dorie the sweetest lady you’ve ever met! Doris was involved in the Military Mothers and Harold was a retired USPS man. To this day, still owned and operated military, we appreciate all that military men and women do for our country.The campground continues to be run by family, Troy and Charles (Chip) Wertz own and operate the now 220 site campground. The campground offers full hook-up, water/electric, and tent sites. The *** river offers many great opportunities for fishing or floating in a raft on a hot day.This campground holds value to old fashion camping that involves sitting around the campfire with family. Some of our oldest campers have been here for 30 years! We are true to our campground family and love to meet new members each day.We are moving into the 21st century with online reservations and WIFI but nothing compares to our weekend activities of bingo and fire sessions. We love our campground family and hope you all enjoy as much as we have for the past 50 years!

Welcome to Middle Creek Campground! We are nestled back in a holler of the Blue Ridge Mountains at the foot of Fork Mountain. Set your compass for adventure. We are close to an abundance of outdoor adventures! Including the upper James River, the Appalachian Trail and The Blue Ridge Parkway. We are the care-takers of a small, rural, mountain campground and blessed to live among such beauty and be able to share it with like minded individuals and families. We offer 30 and 30/50 amp sites. All have water and electric. We also have some full hookups (sewer). We accommodate tents and hammocks to buses. Yes, as in 55' tour bus. It all depends on the driver. Located 6.2 country miles from I81 at exit 168 or just under 7 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway at MM 89/90 (Powell's Gap), or about 15 miles by Rt. 43 through Buchanan. Situated about 30 miles north of the Roanoke/Salem area and all they offer; and about 15 miles south of Lexington along the 81 corridor.The road in is a 6.2 mile asphalt VDOT approved country road. It winds through some of the most beautiful and diverse scenery. You''ll cross the James River, you will cross over the railroad track and then pass through Arcadia proper into the Jefferson National Forest. For about 2 miles you'll wind along Jennings Creek. Depending on the season it is an array of God's beauty. The last mile is from Jennings Creek to the Camp along Middle Creek Road. You will climb one mile to an elevation of 1158' along this state owned and maintained rural mountain road to Camp. Phone reception depends on your carrier, Verizon or US Cellular usually have good service. HOWEVER, the campground is in the shadow of Fork Mountain and reception in the lower campground service can be very limited. We do try to provide Wi-Fi, but it is satellite and VERY limited. If you need Wi-Fi, look into your options for bringing what you need. AT&T picks up in the upper campground and near the pool. Please, surf through our site for hiking trails in the area, "secret" swimming holes, some super cool places to visit, our schedule of weekend entertainment and our menu. There is always a corn hole game going on somewhere and we have some fantastic karaoke. Maybe, just maybe, this circus is your kind of zoo...
