About Exeter

Exeter, New Hampshire Campgrounds and RV Parks

Exeter RV parks and campgrounds are just south of town and there are plenty of options a short drive away in neighboring communities like Hampton and Brentwood. The town is rich with early American history, and it’s surrounded by pristine New England wilderness.

History buffs should be sure to visit the American Independence Museum or the beautiful sprawling campus of the world famous private school Phillips Exeter Academy, which plays a key role in the local culture and economy.

The New England Dragway is a quarter mile NHRA drag strip for car racing in Epping, and typically hosts races and various events from May to October, with the highlight being the Lucas Oil Division 1 Championship. Just west of the Dragway is the Pawtuckaway State Park, which is among the most popular areas for getting outdoors in all of Southern New Hampshire. These forested hills hide ponds, streams, with well-maintained hike and bike trails connecting them.

South of town, Kingston State Park is another popular local spot for fishing, canoe and kayaking, swimming, and the park offers a playground, picnic areas, and hike and bike trails. The nearby Webster Natural Area doesn’t have as many amenities, but instead offers an unfettered area for local wilderness exploration.

If you’re looking for a good day trip from the Exeter area, try Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge to the north, or head south to Hampton Beach State Park, which comes alive with beachgoers every summer.
