Very nice campground. We had a site, right next to a stream, so hearing the water run was very peaceful. All the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and courteous. The bathrooms and showers were always immaculate and had plenty if hot water fir showers. The sites were flat and not rocky. We bought wood for campfires from the campground, which was cheaper than what the sold in town, and the wood was seasoned, and burned great. I highly recommend this campground, and will be back, when we are in the area.

We always enjoy camping at Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground. We come every year for the NOC Guest Appreciation Festival. The sites are spacious, they have a lovely selection of toys that the kids can take back to camp and the bath houses are very clean! There’s a spot to air your tires up, a playground for the littles, a basketball hoop for kids and adults. It’s a very lovely, family style campground with great views of the surrounding mountains. Definitely recommend for anyone looking to camp in the Bryson city area. Not sure who owns this campground, but they have made a lot of changes since last year. They added a little washer and dryer station and a few other amenities. It’s never trashed and always well maintained. 4 Stars because: The only complaint is the port-a-pottys are ALWAYS overfilled and pungent. I’m talking a mountain of poo 💩 in there, no blue water either. Which leaves the bath house as my only option.. which is clean always. However, it gets cumbersome having to walk 3-5 mins away every time I have to pee. I don’t have high standards and I’m not above using a porta potty but I can’t bring myself to use these ones. I wish they would have them cleaned out before a big event such as GAF when they know a high influx of people are coming in.

I booked there because I thought it would be nice and relaxing. It was not. When I got there I was told people were having trouble dumping their tanks because the sites are uneven. The sites are all uneven, but the sewage was all backed up and when I opened the cap it blew up on me and just kept coming out. I tried screwing the cap on, but with all the pressure of the sewage blowing out it was very hard to get the cap on and I got sewage all over me. It was disgusting. My campsite was full of sewage. It was puddled. Everytime we or the dogs went out we had to walk in the sewage. I couldn't get anyone until the next day. 2 men came and when I came out the one guy was just yelling at me. I told him that was uncalled for. I was also accused of blocking the sewage. It wasn't just my site it was the site next to me the cabin and the bathrooms. Turned out to be a tree route. They also sprinkled lime which got all over my stuff and my dogs had to walk through the lime. The other problem I had was it was not quiet. The rv site behind me had about 5 tents set up between their site and up to the next trailer. They had cars parked all around my site making it hard to drive out. Dogs were not kept on leashes nor was dog waste picked up. We told the office and they did nothing about it. I have a bigger rig and told them before going and was told I had a pull through site, but could not pull through with the cabin in front of me and the firepits so I had to back up and with all the people parked around my site made it very difficult and they wouldn't move until they seen me nearly miss their vehicle because I had no room to back up a 40 ft trailer. I would never stay their again.

Campground Response

I understand you were not happy. And if these issues had been reported in a timely manor a lot of this could have been avoided. Remember folks, there is two sides to every story.

Seems quaint and quiet, but I cannot agree with all the 5 star reviews. Grass could use a mow / general landscaping cleanup and the camp host residence at the entrance was..."interesting". Felt like a long term, low rent, live-in place instead of a recreational campground. Multiple, unattended, yapping dogs in the camper next to us. We actually left and found another place nearby. Bathroom was clean, and the gal that checked us in was nice, they get a star for that. (We were booked in site 32)

Campground Response

We are so sorry you had a bad experience. Yes, I agree the grass needs cut, unfortunately we were waiting on parts for the mower and were not able to mow this week. We deeply apologize for that. I wish you had notified us about the dogs so we could have done something about it while you were here. Hope you find better results on your journey at other locations.

We enjoyed our stay. Everything was great except the road which is extremely dangerous and we will not be going there again for that reason only.

Our friends introduced us to this quite peaceful spot! It was perfect and the crystal clear babbling brook was the perfect touch. We stayed in the Dogwood cabin and our friends preferred to tent camp. We would have too if we had our camping gear in town with us. Highly recommended! Affordable,, quiet, clean and full of peace. Close to everything nearby too. UTV rentals, train rides up the mountains, Bryson City, flea markets, canoing, white water rafting and so much more.

We love going to Smoky Mountain Meadows. We especially love the group sites as it is easy to share with our boating friends and less intrusive on other campers w our dogs. Our kids love the many playground toys and other kids they get to meet. The live music is great. Our little was asleep but we could still hear it from our campsite. The big open sky at night is amazing especially if your lucky to go when the fireflies are out. You won't be disappointed here. Susan and her husband are the kindest people you will meet. We have been coming here now for 7 years and will continue to do so. Now if we could just move our fifth wheel here permanently 😂 the roads are about windy and tight so we have never attempted bringing in our 43 ft fifth wheel but from what I've seen others have done so.

this campground is google-rated at 4.6. imo, it's about a 3.5. it's really a campground for tent campers. the bathrooms are okay. the bad: - difficult access(road is winding and narrow). - the park roads and spaces are in need of repair. - the "laundry room" is a shed with a tarp over it. - my pet got fleas in the recently mowed, very tall grass. - the septic inlet was so high relative to the elevation of the space i was in that my tanks wouldn't dump. the manager told me to "use the dump station." i paid for fhu. - long term stayers are allowed to let their dogs run loose. - the manager gave me the impression that she would rather be doing anything other than owning a campground. in my ten years of rv'ing across the country, this is the only campground i ever left with several days left in my paid stay.

This is a great campground with amazing views. Check in with easy with friendly staff. The bathrooms are clean and spacious. I stayed in one of the cabins and the bed was comfy. The refrigerator and air condition worked great. Close to the grocery store and not too far from the downtown area. I found it to be a great location to explore the surrounding areas. I highly recommend this campground. Thank you to all of the staff for such a great place to come visit.

Overall rating is based on the condition of the park. The park's roads are not very well maintained with dirt, muddy roads with a lot of pot holes. I do not think that I would take a big camper on these roads. The Montana fifth wheel that I rented from them was very nice inside, clean and roomy. Outside, it needed scrubbed down, the deck needed maintained and also cleaned. The price was nice, however, again, the park needs upgraded and the camper needs cleaned. If the park was upgraded, I probably would stay again; however, with the way it is now, I will not stay again.
