The Raton Pass Camp and Cafe is a campground located north of Raton just off I-25 at the top of Raton Pass, New Mexico. Soak in the panoramic views of the Savage Canyon, home to gambel oak, pinion and ponderosa pine, and while you're sitting outside keep your eyes open for the wildlife that calls Raton Pass home. Not a fan. If you are thinking about staying here, read aaaaalllllllll the notes cuz it’s buried in there. Water can’t be connected. Three times the fine listed! You are 10 feet from the highway. Bath house closed. No services. Just nope.

Fellow RVers: If you are ever traveling through northern New Mexico/southern Colorado, put this in your ☆highly recommended☆ collection of notes. Place: Raton Pass Camp and Cafe Owners-Rhonda and Mike 46020 Interstate 25 Raton, NM 87740 575-445-8500 ratonpasscamp.com Tommy Watters, RVCARE 866-417-1639 Luke, Superior Diesel (mobile mechanic in Trinidad) 720-878-2995 In the last 24 hours we've had a simultaneous nightmare and remarkable people experience while on our maiden voyage in our new (to us) 2018 Berkshire 34qs motorcoach (< 26k miles). Long story short, we blew a kitchen breaker during a traveling lunch, resulting in nearly shutting our bus completely down. This electrical overload blew our kitchen breaker that wouldn't reset, but we continued traveling on to our first destination thinking we'd find the problem by resetting everything once we were stopped and settled in. We thought the power trip must have fried the non resetting breaker, but it additionally caused our inverter to signal a fault, all receptacles to fail (GFI's wouldn't reset), the refrigerator, microwave, etc., were all were non functioning. Suddenly our def indicator started signaling low def, causing the engine warning lights to tell us to stop the engine immediately due to low def (we were still 3/4 full). Thankfully, we arrived at Raton Pass Camp and Cafe at the perfect time, were safe and plugged in to shore power as the digital brain went haywire. After a full day of talking to many many many people (and with the tireless help of park owners Rhonda, and Mike as well as RVCare's Tommy Watters), we learned from diesel mechanic (Luke) that this overload did nothing more than flip the coach battery yellow flag surge toggles (we have two in our coach battery compartment) that subsequently lead to a nearly disastrous and costly shutdown (towing alone to Freightliner was quoted at +/- $4,500) . If you have these surge protectors in your coach battery compartment, ALWAYS check there first!! Flipping them back into the locked position will save you tons of time and money trying to trouble shoot individual components that are not operating properly. Example, we never dreamed the wiring of our coach def system would flow through the coach battery compartment (so we kept on driving, draining the coach batteries and causing computer confusion throughout). Many valuable lessons were learned thanks to the help of these truly kind and wonderful individuals .... and we couldn't have stopped at a better (not to mention beautiful) RV park.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. The place is nice the view is great, but the lady running the place is an absolute bitch. I’m not sure what her problem is, but even with the great view I wouldn’t want to stay there again!!!

Unique location with killer views from 7888 feet. Helpful owner. Oh, and pay attention to her exit # instructions. Our GPS was wrong. Would stay here again.

We stayed one night, so our experience at this campsite was limited. The staff in the office were nice and helpful. The gentleman who showed us our site was very informative about wildlife in the area. Turns out, one of the critters took our dog's water bowl while we slept!! Our fault for leaving it outside. Gorgeous view.
