Welcome to Lansing, North Carolina  Tucked away in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Ashe County, Lansing is a hidden gem that blends small-town charm with mountain adventure. Its revitalized downtown offers a warm, walkable experience with local favorites like Pie on the Mountain (famous for wood-fired pizza), Old Orchard Creek General Store, and Molley Chomper Cidery, which serves up craft cider made with heirloom apples from the region. The Lansing Creeper Trail Park provides scenic walking trails and picnic spots, while nearby festivals and farmers markets add to the lively, welcoming community spirit. Whether you're exploring local art, grabbing a bite, or just relaxing with a view, Lansing invites you to slow down and enjoy the pace of mountain life.   Our Story Tucked into the quiet countryside of Lansing, North Carolina, Phoenix Mountain Campground is more than just a place to stay — it’s a place built from the heart. Set on eight peaceful acres beside the gentle bends of the New River, this RV park offers 24 spacious, self-contained sites, each with electric, water, and sewer hookups to make your stay comfortable and convenient.  But what truly sets this place apart is the story behind it. Born from both hardship and hope, Phoenix Mountain Campground is the result of years of dedication, sweat, and unwavering love from our family — my husband Derek, our son Bo, our daughter, and me, Pam. This land has been in our hearts for years, and we poured everything into bringing it back to life after Hurricane Helene swept through on September 24, 2004, and wiped out the original RV park that once stood here.  With patience and perseverance, we rebuilt. And on May 11th of this year, we proudly reopened the gates — not just to a campground, but to a dream restored.  Here, beneath the wide Carolina sky and just steps from the waters of the historic New River, we invite you to come experience a place that was lovingly built to be shared.  The New River: Nature’s Playground  Flowing just minutes from downtown Lansing (and next to or campground), the New River is one of the oldest rivers in North America and a designated National Wild and Scenic River. Despite its name, the New River is ancient, winding peacefully through the North Carolina high country. It offers ideal conditions for canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and fishing—especially for small mouth bass and trout. The gentle flow and shallow waters make it accessible for all ages and experience levels. Along the riverbanks, you’ll find wildflower meadows, soaring hardwoods, and abundant bird life , creating a perfect backdrop for both adventure and relaxation. Whether you're paddling through the morning mist or enjoying a riverside picnic at sunset, the New River delivers an unforgettable outdoor experience.  Things to Do Near Phoenix Mountain Campground Fly fishing in Lansing which is 5 miles from the campground Hiking on Mount Jefferson Visiting Ashe County Cheese Plant All the local shops and restaurants in Jefferson and West Jefferson Biking and Walking in Lansing Park
