About Port Isabel

Port Isabel, Texas Campgrounds and RV Parks

Port Isabel RV parks and campgrounds are among the most popular in South Texas, and there are plenty of options both in town and just outside in the neighboring coastal communities. This is one of the last stops before you hit the border with Mexico, and the area is home to rare species of birds, all manner of sea life, and more resorts than you can shake a stick at.

If you’re looking for fun around Port Isabel, you really don’t need to venture too far. The Port Isabel Lighthouse and Historical Museum is a good place to start. Get familiar with the iconic tower that helped ships to port, the role the town has played in regional history, and about the cultures that have occupied the areas throughout different points in history. Cruises and fishing charters are available everywhere but some of the area’s most popular are moored in Port Isabel. There are dozens of high quality restaurants to choose from, many of which feature fresh Gulf seafood caught only a short distance from the shoreline.

To the east there’s South Padre Island which is a destination by itself. South Padre has numerous resorts, clean beaches, quaint shops, fishing charters, and even a convention centre. There’s also Andy Bowie County Park, which has RV sites adjacent to the ocean, and there’s a Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark at the southern end of the Island.

South of Port Isabel are Boca Chica State Park and Brazos Island State Park. This is a birder’s heaven, and the area is not nearly as crowded as South Padre. This is also where the Rio Grande empties into the Gulf of Mexico, and where the United States ends and Mexico begins.

To the west of town is the Palo Alto Battlefield National Historic Park, where the first shots of the U.S.-Mexican War were fired on the coastal prairie, in a conflict that reshaped the map of the United States forever.

No matter what you like to do, the very tip of South Texas has something to offer folks of every interest. And the Port Isabel RV resorts welcome folks year-round to their pristine beaches, rare birds, fresh seafood, and living history. Make your reservation today!
