Cape Breton Island is a place that has many beautiful lighthouses. The Peggy's Cove Lighthouse is one of the most visited lighthouses in all of Canada. This lighthouse was first built in 1868 and opened to the public in 1900. It is only 323 meters from Peggy's Cove, which is a small fishing village on the South Shore of the island. It recently underwent major renovations over many years and it will continue to be maintained by Parks Canada for many years to come. Located in North Sydney, Nova Scotia are several spectacular lighthouses including: Northeast Point Lighthouse, Stannus Lighthouse and Shoal Point Lighthouse.
