Located along the Mississippi River, LaPlace, Louisiana sits within the census-designated place in St. John the Baptist Parish. The city is located on the east bank of the Mississippi River and includes other towns such as Reserve, Lions, Garyville and Mt. Airy, which are thriving and bustling communities.

New Orleans is only a 25-mile drive west of LaPlace and in the meantime, discover the sprawling towns of Lucy, Edgard and Wallace located on the west bank of the river. This area is primarily agricultural with rows of sugarcane that cover the fields. There are many outdoor activities and attractions that are available for the visitors.

LaPlace is located approximately 7.3 miles south of The Maurepas Swamp Wildlife Management Area. It features a vast, scenic wetland forest along Lake Maurepas offering the activities of bird watching, hunting, fishing, camping and boat riding. Five different plantations are located along the east and west banks of the Mississippi River for visitors such as the San Francisco plantation and the Laura plantation. There is also another Wildlife Management Area, the Salvador (WMA) and The Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve.
