Stavely is a town of 1,000 people in the Municipal District of Pincher Creek No. 9 in southern Alberta on Highway 3 near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The British Columbia-Alberta border is less than one kilometer east of Stavely. It's surrounded by ranchland and dry hills. Stavely is 200 kilometers south of Calgary, 521 kilometers east of Edmonton, and 1,014 kilometers north of Vancouver. 

 

Stavely claimed to be the geographic centre of the province in 1928, when H.A. McNeil, a surveyor for the Alberta Land Survey Branch, calculated it to be at 50°49′ north and 114°53′ west. The location was marked by a monument on top of Landmark Hill, which is also known as Stavely Hill. In 1961 the Geographic Centre of Alberta Association was created to promote and "maintain recognition of Stavely as Alberta's geographic centre.

Stavely is a small town in Alberta, Canada which is home to approximately 150 people. It's less than 3 hours' drive west of Edmonton and only 2 hours north of Calgary.

The road system in Stavely is serviced by two highways — Highway 2 and Highway 16. Highway 2 will take you towards Calgary and Highway 16 will take you towards Edmonton.
