Camping in Airdrie can be done at the Waskasoo Park, located near downtown. The park has 158 sites and is open year-round. It also has a swimming area and playground for kids. 

The city of Calgary provides RVs and tents to use for free for those attending conventions that are held at the Convention Center in Calgary. So, you do not have to worry about campgrounds or hotels. Just reserve a spot early in advance. 

Camping is allowed in designated areas of the city, such as parks and parking lots. It is illegal to sleep in cars parked on the street, however.

Travel to Airdrie

Airdrie is a city in Alberta that is within the Calgary Regional Public Transit System, or C-Train. It's a light rail transit system that runs from downtown Calgary to the southern parts of the city. The Airdrie Transit bus runs from the city of Airdrie to downtown Calgary. 

Alberta Transportation has highway links throughout Alberta and beyond, allowing for easy travel to larger cities like Edmonton and Vancouver and major tourist destinations like Banff National Park. 

The Airdrie Airport is a small facility that offers flights to major cities across Canada and beyond. With an average of 15 flights per day, it's not typically considered a major hub, but is great to get to if you're heading to larger cities or farther travel destinations. The nearest large airport, the Calgary International Airport (YYC), is 25 minutes away by car or 56 minutes away by bus. 

The city has no railways that run directly through the area. The closest train stations are located in Calgary.

Airdrie is one of the fastest growing cities in Canada, with over 6,000 people moving there each year. It's always been considered a place for outdoorsy types, with a large number of campers and RVers calling Airdrie home. 

The City of Airdrie offers recycling and composting programs for residents. The Recycling Program is voluntary, with various materials accepted for recycling, including aluminum, steel and tin cans. Plastic bottles are accepted as part of the Blue Box program. 

Curbside collection for recycling happens once a week, as well as twice-monthly blue box collection of recyclable paper products. Composting bins are available from the city through annual subscription.
