This place is not fancy but we loved it. Clean restrooms and laundry room. No one was around when we checked in but I called Lonnie and she got back to me right away with the campsite information. Mary the camp host came around and offered use a fire pit with wood. We eat at the Johnson Landing restaurant for breakfast and it was really good. Tony the owner took good care of us. Great cook and waitress. Overall it was a unique, rustic campground with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We enjoyed our 8 day stay with West Shore RV Park.

Came for some warmth and quiet relaxation, not expecting much. I never expected a working bar and restaurant on site, and amazing paramotor flights taking off next door. Friendly residents. Couldn't ask for a better way to spend some days relaxing.

Sorry we didn't make it. Everyone got sick tried calling to let you know but didn't get ahold of anyone.

Campground Response

When did you call? We had a severe storm which knocked our power out for 7 days. Let me know when you reserved and I will check into it

I don’t 5 days in winter 2023 at West Shores Marina & RV Park. Spaces are clean / neat with a patio slab. Easy access to Anza - Borrego and Salton Sea areas. Several powered paragliders operated from adjacent lot - fun to watch.

This place is an old somewhat run down park. It’s noisy from the para-motors, but fun to watch. Bathrooms were not well kept and had pay showers. It was ok for a one night stay, passing through. Nothing to be excited about.

Campground Response

Hello Jay, sorry we did not meet your standards. Apparently you were not informed as the type of recreational activities in our area. Yes we are noisy from the off road crowd and the Paramotor ( we love them) crowd. Yes the bathrooms are well used because of all the boondocker campers ( hence the pay showers) You came at one of our busiest times, our annual Paramotor Flyin. I would suggest coming later in the year (September) if you are looking for peace and quiet, or somewhere closer to the city.

Voor degene die een overnachting zoeken met een RV en niet speciaal op zoek zijn naar een plek om met paramoter te vliegen, kunnen beter een andere plek zoeken.

Stayed for a week for the paramotor gathering. Site was perfect. Water and electric great. Respectful neighbors. Restaurant outstanding with reasonable prices (other than Karaoke night being a little too loud for table conversation). Thanks for providing a great base for the paramotor fly-in.

The campsite was clean. The sites were flat. The host was pleasant. That gives it the 1 star. The thing is the Salton Sea is TOXIC and there are no signs or indicators of how unhealthy it is. I am surprised that the campsite is still open. I was totally unaware until I googled it. All the fish are dead, Walking towards the smelly sea the skin on my arms and legs started to tingle and burn... that's when I googled it and found out it the most toxic body of water in CA. Also there are a constant barrage of Para gliders overhead. Very noisy. This is a very unhealthy campground.

Campground Response

I believe you didn’t do enough research in your googling. The fish didn’t die of pollution. They died because of the salt content due to the lack of fresh water. The lack of fresh water is because the state of California stole the water that was coming into the sea to sell to San Diego and LA for drinking water turning a viable and living salt water sea into a nasty brine. May be you should have done some research regarding the activities the park offers. Not only do we welcome the paramotors we welcome off roaders with their noisy machines because we are adjacent to California’s largest off highway vehicle park and this is what we do. These sports are no way unhealthy. They are family oriented. They are outdoors. And we are proud to be a part of this. Up until 2010 the Salton sea had major sport fishing. The Salton sea was a major fly way for migratory birds. All this happened because of California government policies. Talk to the people who live here. The articles you read are pushing to have the sea dry up. Why? Lithium mining and geothermal. Do your research.

What a great place to kick back & relax, use as a base camp for exploring the Salton Sea area or riding our off-road toy. Everyone is so great & easy going. We picked our own spot to park. Restaurant is just fantastic. Prime Rib Saturday was awesome. Love this place. We will be back again!
