Sky Mountain Resort RV Park

Nestled in the quiet village of Chama, along the Rio Chama (river) is the Sky Mountain Resort RV Park. Make sure to visit the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad and the numerous trails and mountain ranges that make for excellent biking and hiking expeditions. Also bring your rod, so you don't miss out on the fishing opportunities. There are several famous local eateries like Fina's, and plenty of shopping to be done in Chama. Get psyched for that!

The park closes for the winter, and amenities include: indoor patio lighting, picnic tables, grills, fire rings, water, WIFI, sewerage, big rig access, horseshoe pits, laundry facilities and enclosed dog park. See you soon!

Great small park with very accommodating owners. Plenty of space for big rigs, good hard gravel infrastructure, wi-fi good, and right on the river. We have stayed here from 4 nights to 2 weeks over the past few years, never disappointed. Best RV park around Chama.

Campground Response

Thank you so much for your kind review. We truly appreciate guests like you!

We made a confirmed reservation for a specific site which was not available when we arrived. Apparently others have had the same problem. These kind of scams are common it seems but don't let the owner get away with this in any campground. Be sure you check your site before paying. Absolutely do not pay cash. You have a recourse to immediately call your credit card company. Even if they have a waiver in the rules to change the site, the owner is responsible for telling you this before you pay. Go around and ask if others have had the same thing happen. Feel free to post a sign in your window as to what happened but only state the facts. Report the campground to the local Chamber of Commerce, the State Tourist Association, and Better Business. Take the time to do this in writing. Be sure to go on every website possible to let others know.

Campground Response

We are sorry to hear this site change upset you to this degree and we do apologize. We do state in our reservation confirmation, campground rules and guidelines as well as on our website: "We strive to accommodate site selection with all of our guests. However, it may become necessary to re-assign a comparable site for the purpose of accommodating other guest reservations." We didn't realize moving you from Pull-thru site 37 to Pull-thru site 27 for your one-night stay was going to be this big of a disappointment to you. We would have been more than happy to refund your money had you decided not to stay.

Sky Mountain RV Resort is a great little park! Our first year with our 5th wheel (37 ft.) we found it online just by chance. Decided we'd try it and if we didn't like it we'd go somewhere else the next year - we'll return in a couple of weeks for our 6th year there. Usually stay about 3 months. It's a small (less than 50 very wide, spacious spaces - back in & pull thru) that is owned and operated by the greatest couple. Very level, hard-packed spaces with gravel drives. They are so welcoming and accommodating to everyone who comes to stay! Ultra clean and modern restrooms/showers with heated floors; and laundry facilities. Right on the Chama River and easy drive to Pagosa Springs CO, Santa Fe NM. Historic Steam Engine Railroad - Cumbres/Toltec runs from Chama north over the mountains to Antonito CO every day from May through mid October. Let me add: Daily rates vary from: $29 (30 amp) & $31 (50 amp) for pull thru; $35 & $39 back in under the canopy of trees or on the river. Excellent free wifi throughout the park; no cable (most RV parks in Chama do not have cable), but, you can pick up several stations out of Albuquerque on an antenna. - Review provided by RV Park Recommendations & Reviews Facebook Group
