Well...life IS an adventure so they say! And we’ve found ours right here in Chinook, WA.

Here at RV Park At The Bridge in Chinook, WA, the views of the Astoria-Megler Bridge are stunning! We are 1/2 mile West of the Astoria-Megler Bridge on the WA side. The sunrise, the sunset, and the lights of the city of Astoria, Oregon are a real draw for many. Others just love the convenience of being so close to Astoria, Oregon (4 miles across the bridge) yet vacation or live in Chinook, WA.

The previous owners of the RV Park (formerly known as Mauch's Sundown RV Park) became our friends and they knew that with my husband’s skill set (and my hospitable nature), we were the right ones to take over the RV Park when they retired. How could we pass up the opportunity to invest in a Pacific County community, the people who live here in Chinook, WA and those who vacation on the OR & WA Coast. We continue to upgrade and beautify the RV Park...and love on y’all. We feature pull thru RV sites along with tent sites for those seeking more traditional camping.

Explore along the Columbia River where Lewis and Clark Expedition took place. Visit Columbia River Maritime Museum,The Astoria Column, The Captain George Flavel House Museum especially if you are a Goonie! Challenge yourself at High Life Adventures and go for a thrilling zip line. Visit Historical Fort Stevens State Park & Fort Clatsop.. or have a beet at Fort George Brewery. New breweries & cider houses are popping up, as well as distilleries, so what are you waiting for? Create an adventure!

In WA, check out Fort Columbia Historical State Park, Cape Disappointment and their Waikki Summer Concerting series. Visit Fort Canby State Park in Iiwaco, WA. & North Head Lighthouse. Take a hike, ride a bike, enjoy kayaking or just go fly a kite at the International Long Beach Kite Festival.

Please come visit, or stay a while.

We welcome you to RV Park At The Bridge!

This is A VERY OLD aerial view...but you can see that the park is separated into East & West sides by a little creek only accessible by 101.

Note: If your rig is over 30 ft or you are a tenuous driver, PLEASE do not pull into the main park proper until you know what side of the park your site is on.

There is a wide shoulder in front of the park sign that is very convenient to pull over on. We can direct you from there.

  • Clark’s Dismal Nitch 230 US101- about ½ mile east of the Park. Dismal Nitch was an important part of Lewis & Clark expedition. They had made their way across the country, only to be stuck here for nearly a week waiting out a fierce winter storm in 1805. Informational signs will guide you.
  • Middle Village Station Camp 354 US101, Chinook WA- about 2 miles west of the Park. There is a paved parking lot that is just off the highway with some RV and bus parking. Enjoy the smooth footpath all the way around through the park. Easily walkable. Wheelchair accessible. It’s about a half mile long. There are several observation decks where you can look out over the area, and lots of informational signs. An interesting feature is the three large concrete canoes where kids are welcome to climb on and enjoy.
  • Fort Columbia State Park 475 US101, Chinook WA- about 3 miles west of the Park. A great example of a pre-World War II coast artillery fort with interpretive signs to explain what you're seeing. It provides a vivid glimpse into the history of the area. The museum in the barracks building provides history of the area and the use of the fort over the years. The movie is excellent! It was a beautiful place for a picnic lunch. Don't miss the Powerhouse trail. It is short, interesting and has a beautiful view.
  • North Head Lighthouse Fort Canby State Park, Ilwaco, WA Beautiful forest trails meander their way to 2 historic lighthouses. A great shooting location for photographers! Ideal for families, children and dogs. Amazing beaches too!

Overall Rating: 4.5

1st the Positive: Personable owners & host. Clean, neat facilities. Negatives: Sounds like your camping on a freeway. Though clean, there's only 1 toilet, 1 shower for 60+ sites. Unless you have a car/truck, there's nothing to do but stare at noisy traffic and a glimpse of the bridge/beach & a cliff. Not a bike friendly or even walk friendly place. Is ok for a 1-nighter on the way to some better place to be. We were in what was supposed to be a premium spot. Can't figure out what was premium about it?? We will never return.

Campground Response

Hi Michael. Sorry the road noise in beautiful site#2 was a problem for you. Would have been happy to move you to a different location had I known. The views of the bridge from that site in your 25-foot Class C were certainly fantastic, and that is partially why that site is premium. It's also 50 amp. Regarding the bathrooms, we only rent out about 20 sites to vacationers. Just wanted to clarify that we feel one shower per restroom is plenty especially since most traveling in their RVs have their own fully contained units. Either way, we were still happy to accommodate! Happy Trails, Theresa

James Steffey

This campground is right next to the road with heavy traffic all day long and into the night. We scheduled for 1 week and left after one night as we could not get any sleep due to the traffic noise. The campsite has RVs next to each other with no buffer or barrier. We've been in many RV camps and this is one that we would never stay at again. The only saving grace is that in the back of the property, there is a nice grassy area.

Mark Gianotti

Perfect, thanks!

David Lavigne

Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice facility. Next to highway, so expect some road noise. Great point to visit Cape Disappointment, Long Beach and Astoria, and start your way up the Olympic Peninsula.

Judy Dunbar

Great site and fabulous view. Camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. Only downside is it is right on the road and the traffic noise can be a bit much. Nice laundry/shower facilities.

Campground Response

Thank you for staying with us Judy. Glad you enjoyed site #1 which is 1st site off 101 so yes that spot has the best views but can be a little noisy. Thank you for your review and hope to accommodate again. Happy trails, Theresa

Erica Andersen

Diane, Doug & Teresa were all very kind & helpful! We appreciated the very clean restrooms. Being across the street from the river was wonderful! Will have to come back!

M'Leah Woodard

Hosts are involved and kind. Bathrooms and grounds are spick-and-span clean. For tent campers: road noise is LOUD and all night. Bring earplugs. This is a safe and clean place to camp for one night. Camping is non-partisan; hosts are well-advised to take down Trump paraphernalia. That detracted from - did not add-to - my experience.

Campground Response

Hi m'leah, Glad you and your nephew were able to enjoy the property. Happy trails, Theresa

Nancy Bukowski

This is a small park, but a great location. The hosts were absolutely wonderful and very helpful. The showers and bathrooms were exceptionally clean and shampoo, lotion, etc. were readily available. There is a lovely little creek flowing through the campground and the back has been fixed up with chairs and areas for fires. It was very enjoyable. The one thing we could have used was a picnic table.

Campground Response

Hi Nancy. Thank you for your review. Helpful for other campers! Yes we're working on picnic tables and had you requested I would have tried to one for you As there are quite a few within the campground. We look forward to accommodating again at some time in the future. Happy trails, Theresa

Darlene Carlson

We are so grateful that you accommodated us by working it out so we could stay in the same spot and not have to move. Your camp hosts also were very kind. We love the flower bouquet derived to our door. This is one of the best campgrounds we have ever stayed at.

Campground Response

Thank you very much Darlene and we were so glad that you are able to go on your excursion and not worry about having to move. The flowers were a special little gift from me to you. Happy trails, Theresa

Jennifer Harmon

The view was incredible. The owners/hosts were also awesome! Mr helped park us, and gave us a run down on what was in the area and a very sweet older woman gave us our rules and regulations with other things to do in the area. All great! However, either I misunderstood or read it wrong, which my bad, I'll own it, I thought we were going into a pull thru, and I thought I read that there were fire rings at each campsite; there were neither. There ARE fire pits, but not at the campsites. And as much as I realized that we were going to be close to the road, I didn't realize I'd be right on top of the road (again, NOT their fault, I needed to do more research)....the road noise was almost too much. Our neighbors pole lost power which had him using his VERY LOUD generator. He did turn it off at 10, but instead of waiting until 8, turned it back on before 7, which woke us up. I'm sure we weren't the only ones bothered by this. It was our last day, so we let it go...and the owners were trying. I don't fault them. They were super nice for our entire visit. Just know that there's a lot of road noise and if generators are going, they're also loud. We appreciated the stay, but don't really think it was worth the amount we paid, sadly. Gorgeous views, and awesome hosts through and through.

Campground Response

Hi Jennifer! Just to clarify a few things Yes, on our online system, you can choose a "premium site" price catagpry but not which one premium site it will be. Unfortunately we were unaware of your desire for the pull through. Had we known, perhaps we could have accommodated. We placed you in a premium site with an incredible view. Yes road noise.. I guess there's a slight payoff for that view! With regards to the generator we are so sorry for that. I guess things do break down and we were able to replace a main line the next day. I do not believe there's anywhere on my site that says there are fire pits in each site as there are not ~You are right. We do have a number of great community fire pits. We do permit campers to have their own propane fire pits in individual sites. Thank you for your kind words. We wish you wellness and happy trails, Theresa

The people here are very friendly. We like this RV camp. It only takes 10 minutes to get to Long Beach and Oregon. We hope to visit here again.

Campground Response

Thank you for wonderful review. We hope it is helpful for others traveling as well. We hope to accommodate in the future! Happy trails to you, Theresa

Kathy Eigenberger

Clean with a beautiful view. Traffic was a bit noisy but tapered off at night. We were traveling through and were glamping. Not building fires and camping. It was perfect for us. Very friendly

Campground Response

Thank you Kathy for your kind & truthful words. We appreciate you staying with us and look forward to accommodating again. Happy trails, Theresa

David Monroe

Preston and Theresa were responsive to our needs and made our stay great. Site one is terrific and ready for any RV to enjoy. The view is fantastic.

Liz Botha

The camp hosts are very helpful and friendly and campgrounds are very well maintained. Road on which the campground is is unfortunately very noisy, right through the night, but the view over the bay is stunning.

Paul Garcia

The owners are fantastic. Bathrooms are super clean and the grounds are well maintained as well. There are some various fire rings throughout the campground and some chairs to use too. There is also a fantastic view from the rear deck! The only negative is it is right off the highway, but this is my second time here and I that have not let that detract from all the positive things about this park. It also a short drive to Astoria and Cape Disappointment. Looking forward to our next visit.

B Deichamn

Hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Was close to road so the noise bothered us a few nights but overall was a great location. Would definitely stay again. Thank you.

Kathleen Talso

Loved the park, the deck and sitting areas, the views, the park hosts, as well! We will be back!!!!

Campground Response

Your kind words mean a lot to us. We're glad you enjoyed the property. We look forward to accommodating next time! We love our repeat customers. Be well friends, Theresa

Christina Ptak

Site was clean and well maintained. Beautiful surroundings. My family used the tent site but the RV sites seemed cramped.

Patty Harris

Super host, owners and sites. A 4 star only due to highway noise. But that’s the price of such a convenient spot to overnight. Be sure to check out the beautiful landscaping.

Campground Response

Thank you Patty. We really enjoy beautifying the park and making it welcoming. A little labor of love lol Glad you enjoyed the property. Hope to accommodate next time. Happy trails, Theresa

Geronima Lopez

Our reservation was completely messed up and had to cancel half of our family on 4th of July trip. I called and spoke with Therese 3 times. I clearly explained my intent. I paid/booked for 1 space for 2 adults, 2 teens 2 tents and 2 cars. Another one of my sister's also call to pay/book her own space. I let Therese know we had a large group and family and if I could go ahead and reserve/pay for them she said yes. She said that she had a group site that she could put us all at. When we started going over the head count, she seemed rushed and frustrated because she kept talking about my other sister's reservation which was already set and paid for and out of the way and separate from my reservation, and told me to just go ahead and bring the remaining family (4 adults,...the day of, and we could just pay the difference at the RV park upon arrival. My 3rd call I spoke with her and clearly explained "hi Therese, I'm sorry to be a pest, I just want to make sure we are ALL on the same page so there are no surprises" I asked her if there was a limit to the number of tents we could have and she replied "not a limit depending how tight you wanna be" She explained that the group site had 3 main spaces and each could fit 2 of 4-6 person size tent or 1, 10 person size tent. She even sent me pictures from her cell to mine showing me the entire group site that we would have (since she kept bringing up my sisters reservation anyway) I said "great, so we will have all 3 spaces with 2 tents in each space, 2 adults per tent" and she said "yes we'll put you all in the back its a beautiful space back there next to the creek and you guys will love it" As it stood,, one "space" was already paid for by myself and the 2nd space was taken by my sister on a separate reservation. The remaining space to pay was for space # 3 and per Therese, we had planned to do that the day of. The only correct info I was given was that there was limited parking so we planned accordingly to car pool. One sister arrived Fri night (1 night early then the rest of the clan) and there was another family (not part of our clan) already set up in one of the spaces. They said they had booked a couple hours before they arrived. My sister called me and I called Therese at the RV park, and she went back on everything she said and tried to rudely hang up on me and basically said "no honey sorry thats not gonna work, sorry uh huh thanks for calling bye" I said wait a sec there has been miscommunication obviously and I have family coming what can we do and she continued to brush me off. I said we spoke 3 times, I made my intent clear, you said everything was good and in order and she said "nope sorry thats not gonna happen, you can revoke your reservation with no refund should u chose to do so" There was no talking with her or negotiating, she could care less that she went back on her word. I camp often and visit RV parks and I understand the importance of details and clear communication. Long story short we had to call family members and let them know they couldn't come. We were bummed and would have canceled but we would not be refunded. The remaining clan decided to try and make the best of it. Upon arrival, Therese approached and said "sorry for the confusion, I need to know everybody who will be in my park, your sister said 11 people!" She was correct, the initial intent/reservation was 11 people total that is what we had agreed on and spoke about on 3 calls, wasn't until the night before she let us know it was no longer ok. I was already there and how could I argue with her and possibly get thrown out if I gave her a piece of my mind, I wouldn't put it past her. It was obvious the lady was either ex methhead or on cocaine. She spoke and moved super fast and her thoughs and paperwork were all out of order and all over the place. They went over my paperwork repeatedly quoted one amount and then another and then tried to blame me. We made the best of it, the space itself wasn't so bad and we got lucky the family at our group were nice people. The park itself was definitely crowded. She crammed RV's really close and wherever she could fit them. Point was to make money nothing else mattered. I'm sure she won't care since parking space/camp sites, especially in the summer or holiday is so limited that people are desperate and will go anywhere and she likely will have plenty of business no matter what. We Will never return.

Campground Response

If all the information had been forthcoming, perhaps we all would have had a better experience. Was definitely a surprise when you showed up with an extra trailer. Glad you were able to utilize so much of our firewood without permission. Happy trails to you all.
