  1. Well...life IS an adventure so they say! And we’ve found ours right here in Chinook, WA.

Here at RV Park At The Bridge in Chinook, WA, the views of the Astoria-Megler Bridge are stunning! We are 1/2 mile West of the Astoria-Megler Bridge on the WA side. Please be sure to look for the RV PARG SIGN~DO NOT pull into neighboring narrow private driveways. TY.

The sunrise, the sunset, and the lights of the city of Astoria, Oregon are a real draw for many. Others just love the convenience of being so close to Astoria, Oregon (4 miles across the bridge) yet vacation or live in Chinook, WA.

The previous owners of the RV Park (formerly known as Mauch's Sundown RV Park) became our friends and they knew that with my husband’s skill set (and my hospitable nature), we were the right ones to take over the RV Park when they retired. How could we pass up the opportunity to invest in a Pacific County community, the people who live here in Chinook, WA and those who vacation on the OR & WA Coast? We continue to upgrade and beautify the RV Park...and love on y’all. We feature full hookup  RV sites along with a few tent sites for those seeking more traditional camping.

Explore along the Columbia River where Lewis and Clark Expedition took place. Visit Columbia River Maritime Museum, The Astoria Column, The Captain George Flavel House Museum especially if you are a Goonie! Challenge yourself at High Life Adventures and go for a thrilling zip line. Visit Historical Fort Stevens State Park & Fort Clatsop.. or have a beer at Fort George Brewery. New breweries, cider houses and distilleries are plentiful  so what are you waiting for? Create an adventure!

In WA, check out Fort Columbia Historical State Park, Cape Disappointment and their Waikiki Summer Concert series. Visit Fort Canby State Park in Ilwaco, WA. & North Head Lighthouse. Take a hike, ride a bike, enjoy kayaking or just go fly a kite at the International Long Beach Kite Festival.

Please come visit, or stay a while.

We welcome you to RV Park At The Bridge!

This is A VERY OLD aerial view...but you can see that the park is separated into East & West sides by a little creek only accessible by 101.

Note: If your rig is over 30 ft or you are a tenuous driver, PLEASE do not pull into the main park proper until you know what side of the park your site is on.

There is a wide shoulder in front of the park sign that is very convenient to pull over on. We can direct you from there.

Wanting more adventure? Check out some favorites!

  • Clark’s Dismal Nitch 230 US101- about ½ mile east of the Park. Dismal Nitch was an important part of Lewis & Clark expedition. They had made their way across the country, only to be stuck here for nearly a week waiting out a fierce winter storm in 1805. Informational signs will guide you.
  • Middle Village Station Camp 354 US101, Chinook WA- about 2 miles west of the Park. There is a paved parking lot that is just off the highway with some RV and bus parking. Enjoy the smooth footpath all the way around through the park. Easily walkable. Wheelchair accessible. It’s about a half mile long. There are several observation decks where you can look out over the area, and lots of informational signs. An interesting feature is the three large concrete canoes where kids are welcome to climb on and enjoy.
  • Fort Columbia State Park 475 US101, Chinook WA- about 3 miles west of the Park. A great example of a pre-World War II coast artillery fort with interpretive signs to explain what you're seeing. It provides a vivid glimpse into the history of the area. The museum in the barracks building provides history of the area and the use of the fort over the years. The movie is excellent! It was a beautiful place for a picnic lunch. Don't miss the Powerhouse trail. It is short, interesting and has a beautiful view.
  • North Head Lighthouse Fort Canby State Park, Ilwaco, WA Beautiful forest trails meander their way to 2 historic lighthouses. A great shooting location for photographers! Ideal for families, children and dogs. Amazing beaches too!

Very clean but it’s on a high traffic road and can’t do anything if you don’t have a car.

A great base camp to see attractions in both Washington and Oregon including Long Beach, Astoria, Seaside and Cannon Beach. The view is amazing and we loved watching the river roll by in the evenings (and spotting seals, eagles, salmon jumping). The big bonus is the hospitality of the owners, Theresa and Preston. They went beyond to make our stay comfortable and are very knowledgeable about the area. There is road noise but you don't notice it after the first day and being right on the 101 is an advantage.

Nice friendly staff. Beautiful view of the mouth of the Columbia River and Astoria-Megler Bridge. Hwy 101 busy during the day but quiet at night. Minutes from Astoria which offers plenty to do. Also close to Long Beach which offers incredible bike trails and much to see.

Campground Response

Thank you Gerry was nice to meet you both. Glad you enjoyed Discovery trail in Long Beach and hope Astoria waterfront trail was just as good. Thank you for the kind review! Happy trails, Theresa

The owner and camp host are very nice and very accommodating. The campground is just too close to the highway. And it’s a very busy highway, at all hours. It made it rough to get sleep. It’s small so I don’t think there would be a space that you wouldn’t hear semi’s passing through. We stayed 3 nights and we’re exhausted by the time we left. It’s a shame because the views are amazing and it’s close to Astoria. I would check out the KOA and parks close by.

Campground Response

Sorry to hear the traffic bothered you. You were in site #1 with the most amazing sought after views however it is first off the road. There are quieter sites in the back that would have been better for you. Had I known perhaps we could have done a site switch for you. Either way we wish you well and happy travels.

Felt unwelcome to say the least. Let me preface with, we are on a near 7,000 mile road trip. We have two dogs. We usually take about 3 hours of driving to the next destination. However, the day prior was a 12 hour drive day and then two more hours that morning. We buy our dogs travel bones to keep them busy. When we arrived, we wanted to go explore, so we close up (as always) and leave. I get a phone call that our dogs are barking and we needed to return (this has never happened). We returned to see that we left one travel bone out for two dogs (our mistake 100%). It’s really the way the female employee handled the situation. I’m not sure if she thinks the way she speaks to people is “cute” or “nice”. It is neither, and extremely unprofessional. Our dogs barked for the first time, we felt as if we were in trouble. We have over 30 rv parks on this trip alone. Big and small parks, dogs bark. That’s nature. However, I returned and did not leave the RV for the remaining one day left of the stay. The morning we were leaving (which was across the bridge to Astoria so of course we will wait until 11am check out to drive the five miles to the next RV park). At 8am, my husband is taking out the trash with our dog, stops to speak with the gentleman working, when the female employee approaches my husband and says “are you leaving today or????” As if you say, “get out already” He came back in and said the words “okay, that was so weird and rude”. Which made him want to leave that moment. It’s a small park right on the ocean. It would be a beautiful view, if you felt comfortable enough to even take your dog out. Just unwelcoming and for the lack of amenities at least be friendly. The gentleman however was quite nice and pleasant. Would not go back, and extremely happy we only booked the necessary nights. All in all, some RV parks are not the nicest or fanciest. However, across the United States, this is the only stay that was booked for two too many days. The gentleman is sweet. The view is nice. If you stay, I would just avoid her. The dogs bark, that’s fine and on me. Her customer service doesn’t need work, it needs a training course from step one. As in your arrival phone call to verify your stay. Just awkward and unwelcoming before, during, and moreover the day leaving.

Campground Response

Sorry that your experience was unpleasant. Be well, Theresa

we had a very pleasant stay at RV Park At The Bridge. The staff was friendly. We stayed here in a 32 foot travel trailer. FHU so we did not use campground facilities.

Great location, nice staff(Theresa was great!) nice clean bathrooms. The only reason why I didn’t do if five star is because our site very close together and difficult to back into. Other than that we had a great experience.

Very small camper slots on a gravel parking lot, our neighbors slideout literally was against our extended awning, no grass, no fire-ring no picnic table, no slab to park on, no nothing but a parking space. We stayed over the 4th of July, and we were told to "try not to use the bath houses and bathrooms" and to use "the ones in your own camper". I was told if I had to use the showers to take very quick showers. He cited it being crowded there on the holiday weekend. We have a smaller camper, so we like to shower in the bath houses. The rest rooms were very clean, probably as a result of telling everyone not to use them. Also, the camp ground is right next to a super busy road, the traffic is pretty loud. There is a nice view of the bridge and Astoria from the opposite side of the Columbia River.

Wonderful. We were in site 31 near the babbling brook and it was beautiful and so relaxing. The park is very well cared for and clean. Owners pride in the park is evident. Owners were there working and making improvements the entire time we were there. Owners and onsite hosts are very helpful and friendly.

Campground Response

Thank you Jennifer for your awesome review! We appreciate that you appreciate what we're doing here! LOL! A labor of love. Glad you enjoyed the little creek and that sweet spot! I love to see people relaxing, playing guitar and enjoying the moment! The site is off the road so a little quieter, but I guess the trade off is less of the view of the Columbia River. We wish you well and happy travels, Theresa.
