KANSAS CITY is one hour south of Pony Express. Famous for its BBQ and sports teams, the major metropolis is also home to various renowned museums (National WW1 Museum & Memorial, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, to name a few), exciting restaurants, brew pubs and nightlife at KC Live!, as well as many other points of interest.

Next in terms of size is the charming city of ST. JOSEPH (St. Joe to the locals) which is 33 miles west of the park is best known as the origination point of our namesake, The Pony Express Route. This uncommonly interesting place boasts more than a dozen museums-- which include Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art and numerous history (Glore Psychiatric Museum, Pony Express National Museum and Black Archives Museum to name a few.) Other points of interest include Bushman Planetarium, Remington Nature Center, Mount Mora Cemetery, many architecturally significant buildings and, last but not least, the Walter Cronkite Memorial. Ask at the office for a current Visitor Guide which has two-for-one admission coupons. In addition, the annual events calendar is packed with concerts, festivals and the KC Chiefs Training Camp. So much to see and do in St. Joe!

"Quilt Town USA" aka HAMILTON is only 26 miles from the park. Quilters from all over the country flock here to get their fabric fix. And never fear, one of the stores even features a Man Cave!

The Amish town of JAMESPORT is 37 miles away and is a charming place to eat and shop...numerous fine bakeries, restaurants, country stores that sell food in bulk, Amish-made furniture & smaller hand-crafted items, quilting stores and antique stores. You can find it all in Jamesport.

Our friendly and helpful office staff will be happy to give you more information and brochures for even more places to go & things to see in the greater Maysville area---JUST ASK!

Bryan and Debbie Hunter

This was a pit stop on the way to Illinois for races. We had a clean beautiful spot for our 32 ft. Motorhome and a great area to walk our dog. Everyone was helpful and friendly. There is a lot to enjoy and we plan to go back and stay for a time to take the area in...

Campground Response

A nice place to stay.

Gerald Bird

Very gracious owner, great pizza, good wi-fi, will stay there again.

Don Cameron

Sites are too close together and too loud. But they were level and full hook-up was nice.

Mike Gross

Nice peaceful campground with great water pressure. This place is 6 miles off the main highway in a peaceful setting with 2 lakes. This is the second time I have stayed for the night on my way through. I will be back again.

Jeff Miles

Great check in service, and site was great, easy in and easy out... Only thing is the bugs were terrible and just was not able to sit outside for bery long. Just a suggestion, might have the grounds sprayed couple times during the summer time to control insects?

Campground Response

Hi Jeff! Thank you for the kind review... Due to being a park open to public with different allergies and breathing afflictions, i leave bug control to the individual. We sell "Off" spray and bracelets in the office! Take care and Camp On!!

Alexandra Quinn

We really enjoyed this campground! Our tent site was large and tucked away in the trees giving us a great amount of privacy. The bathroom and showers were very clean. The farm animals were adorable. I would come back to this campground!

Richard Burckhart

This was a nice park albeit rather hilly and very little shade to be had. The owner was super nice and very helpful, and the onsite pizzeria was nice.

Campground Response

Hello and thank you for taking time to leave a review !! Happy travels !!

Kent Emerson

Made reservation on 10/8. Arrived on 10/25 and was told they had to switch our site to a very unlevel site. We had electric issues. Manager called electrician and he finally came next day. He said electric box was a mess. Had a 30amp line running thru a 20amp breaker. Not good. Upon leaving we were told they would comp us 2 nights upon our return home. Not sure if we'll take them up on it.

Campground Response

Kent..so sorry your stay with us got goofed up. It is always our intention to make each campers stay pleasant and smooth. The corrections needed to that site are underway. Our sincere apologies... Best wishes to you both

Gaston Coulombe

Very nice, clean and well maintained park. We were greeted by Carole and Terri upon arrival with friendly smiles and eagerness to offer any help we may need. Carole was quick to provide information and tips about the Missouri Star Quilt Co. which my wife was eager to visit. Facilities are great and clean. Very enjoyable stay. Thanks.

Campground Response

Hi! Thank you for your kind review, it was a pleasure to have you stay with us! Best wishes for safe travels...

Merna Lewis

Awesome experience! We had to extend our trip one day, called and they said that it was no problem. When we arrived, late and in pouring rain, Carol met us at the door and greeted us with a warm smile! The campsite was easy to find, easy to hook up and set up. The showers, which was a big priority for us, we're amazing. Nice hot water, big shower and great water pressure. The whole park is nicely groomed and very quiet. We enjoyed listening to the crickets after the rain showers. Slept like babies. Took a nice walk around the grounds. Our only suggestion is to build another shower house at the end of the grounds so we don't have to walk as far to them. We were greeted by the pony on our way out, and enjoyed looking at the other animals. Will definitely be back and will recommend this place to others!

Campground Response

Merna and crew! You are a peach... Thank you for the glowing review! Take care ~
