Phoenix Mountain Campground is the realization of owner Steve Hight's lifelong dream—to create a beautiful RV retreat where families can come together and enjoy quality time surrounded by the stunning scenery of Ashe County.

Working alongside Steve to bring this vision to life are dedicated property managers, Derek and Pam, along with their son Bo. Together, they have worked diligently to transform this dream into reality, ensuring that every guest experiences the warmth, hospitality, and natural beauty that make Phoenix Mountain Campground a truly special destination.

We invite you to create lasting memories with your loved ones in our corner of the North Carolina mountains.

The New River: Nature’s Playground

Flowing just minutes from downtown Lansing (and next to or campground), the New River is one of the oldest rivers in North America and a designated National Wild and Scenic River. Despite its name, the New River is ancient, winding peacefully through the North Carolina high country. It offers ideal conditions for canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and fishing—especially for small mouth bass and trout. The gentle flow and shallow waters make it accessible for all ages and experience levels. Along the riverbanks, you’ll find wildflower meadows, soaring hardwoods, and abundant bird life , creating a perfect backdrop for both adventure and relaxation. Whether you're paddling through the morning mist or enjoying a riverside picnic at sunset, the New River delivers an unforgettable outdoor experience.
