Our campground is at the northwest edge of Carter Lake where you can fish, boat, sail and use non motorized water toys. There are boats for rent at Carter Lake Marina (970) 667-1062. Pinewood Lake, located about 20 minutes away, is also a great spot for fishing, non-motorized water toys and a nice hike around the lake. When using either lake, a day pass for your car and motor boats are needed and can be purchased at the Marina, or self service kiosk at both Carter Lake entrances.

The town of Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park is a 45 minute drive up Highway 34. A Timed Entry Permit is needed from 9am to 2pm for the park and you can get yours at Recreation.gov (set up an mobile app account online first).

4.5 stars. I would go back. Lady running the store was super nice, gave us tips about getting to pinewood reservoir to paddle board. I was curious about the boat storage and semi-permanent residents taking part of the property, but it turned out to be a really nice spot. Quiet. never really heard road noise. wifi was very slow... but if we're camping, that can be a good thing!! just something to be aware of. Really enjoyed our stay!!

Campground Response

Roger thank you so much for your kind words and I’m glad that you enjoyed your stay. We would love to have you back.

Very nice place to stay. The owner was very pleasant to talk with. It's also just a short walk to Carter Lake. The Windjammer bar and restaurant, which was right next to North Shore Rv park, was very clean and had good food. Had some wildlife walk into the park as well. Very peaceful too.

Campground Response

Thank you, Trevon. We’re glad you enjoyed your stay, and would enjoy having you back.

Great for a one night or two night stay. Staff are very helpful. Wifi not so great. Overall, quiet and nice place to stay.

Campground Response

Belinda thank you for coming and staying with us and glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes the Wi-Fi is an issue and it’s a work in progress trying to improve on it. Hope you’re enjoying your new RV.

Was a quiet stay … was at the dray camp space spent three days there over the weekend

Campground Response

Mark, thank you for staying with us. It’s nice to get away from the noise and enjoy the quiet now and again!

Very friendly staff. Site 14 on the edge was nice, the other sites are congested. This was a good staging point in a rural area for RMNP.

Campground Response

Matt, thank you for staying with us. Site 14 is definitely a popular one with our return visitors. When the campground was originally designed I’m sure there was no idea the direction that RVs would go to in todays world, so yes, some of our sites are tight.

We dry camped in a huge grassy area and enjoyed daily turkey and deer visits. The "Peek of the Lake View" was an unexpected bonus. It is so close; we rode our bikes over and had a blast. Next trip we'll rent a sailboat and take a self guided tour. Owner Debbie was super helpful and accommodated our every need. This was our second visit and we expect it won't be our last.

Campground Response

Thank you flash it was a pleasure to have both you and your wife stay with us and we’d love to have you back!

We had a great time. The rv park staff was excellent and a wonderful place to stay.

The picture on the website misrepresents the views. There is NO view of the lake from the campground. It was a 10 minute walk to get to the lake. The site we stayed in was very sloped and difficult to level the trailer. The place is dated and run down. Would not recommend this as a favorite.

Campground Response

Peggy, sorry your stay wasn't what you expected. We do work to keep it tidy and picked up You're correct, we do not have a lake view RV Park, but we're right next door! We showcase the lake with pictures, as many of our guests come up to play with their water toys.

Don't come here. I booked online. (Don't book online!!!) I assumed we had electricity, water, and sewer like it stated on the website. When we got there we were given a "dry site" which was a place in the dirt where we could park our trailer and truck. It had a fire pit and picnic table but No water, No electricity, and No sewer!! The park was full and the office lady said there was no place for us to dump or get water. So we had to leave and pay for a dump station. Since we were staying 4 days (for a conference) we had to save our water and paid for showers in the county park nearby every night. $35 a night (holiday rate) for a place to park. I do not recommend this place. You can find a better park. Keep looking.

Campground Response

Glen sorry your stay was not what you expected. It is explained on the website when picking your spot that it is a dry site with no amenities and as you had our last opening I followed up with an email reiterating the situation so it’s not a surprise when you arrive. The dry sites are priced $20.00 a night less then our other sites as a result.

We have been camping here for years. The spaces while are not large, they accommodate our fifth wheel camper just fine. The entire campground is kept clean and having the store onsite is a added bonus should you forget to bring something

Campground Response

Thank you George. We enjoy our return guests. It feels like family coming for the weekend.

It seems that our reservation at North Shore was accepted by management in error as we were there from April 11th through the 13th and they were not planning to open for the season until May 1. In spite of that, they were very friendly and accommodating. The campsite was large with full hook ups that worked well. Their website says that rigs must be self contained, which we are so it wasn't a problem, but there are no toilet facilities on site. Not a problem but sort of unusual for a campground with all the other amenities that North Shore has. Lots of wildlife around. We saw deer, fox, and wild turkeys.

Pleasent host. Site isn't very wide. Hard to have a camp 🔥 if anyone next to you. Would probably burn or melt something. Sites need to be leveled and smoother gravel brought in. Sites internet was so so. Got dropped many times. Would be nice if a shower and bathroom was available.Didn't see any. Bar nearby with food. Newer owners so maybe updates coming. Does have h2o,electric, sewer.

The spots are way to close together the should probably be double the size very expensive for such a small spot. Also they have a serious sewer problem the septic system is way past due on being cleaned. the wildlife was cool to see.

Campground Response

Richard, sorry your experience was not favorable. Being an older campground and the size of modern travel vehicles, it certainly can get cramped at the sites. Although our septic was cleaned in May, we will troubleshoot the sites. Thanks for the information.

Beautiful view. My family loved listening to the turkeys and watching the deer. We could even walk to the lake from our site. The restaurant was good and the peopled were very friendly. Only think I would recommend is letting people know there is limited cell and WiFi service.

Campground Response

Kittie we’re glad you and your family had a good time. The WiFi is a challenge that we are continuing to work on.

Serene location on North edge of Carter Lake. Debbie (owner I think) was very friendly and helpful. The Wild Turkeys and Deer roaming around were a nice addition. Internet and phone was tough if you're looking remote work site. Otherwise turn the computer off and enjoy the e-mails not feeding your phone screen . It made my commute home from the office calming.

Campground Response

Hi Kevin, I'm glad you were able to enjoy your stay. The internet is a challenge that we are working to improve on.

Beautiful location situated in the mountains between Loveland and Estes Park near Carter Lake. Extraordinary views. Mule deer and wild turkey will walk through your campsite in the fall. Excellent staff, clean and well kept facilities. Windjammer bar and grill has excellent smoked Bar-B-Q and is literally next door. Opening again for the season May 1, 2022.

This campground is perfect if you are looking for a quiet, restful place to stay. It is a very short drive to Carter lake and not too far from Estes Park. There are no showers, however, but it was not a problem for us. Clean grounds and lots of wildlife visitors. Friendly hosts.
