Great place to camp as your passing through. I travel regularly between Seattle and Northern Minnesota. I will make it a stop on most trips now that I've found the campground. I've stayed there twice and have had the whole campground to my self.

Tina Mercer

Wonderful, small, quiet campground. We stayed here during Labor Day weekend and we were quite pleased with this stop.

Carol Bauer

We enjoyed our stay as always.

Stacy Maier

Nice, quiet convenient campground with a couple of drawbacks. Power and water only, no sewer hookups. Also the campground gets a lot of local vehicle traffic passing through and the roads are gravel creating lots of dust. Would be great to see these roads get oiled or some sort of dust mitigation plan put in place. Will definitely stay there again and highly recommend.

Great place to stay. Clean, pretty. Would definitely stay here again

Very courteous front desk personnel. Campsite a little narrow but well maintained. Showers were less than satisfactory. Water pressure good but poor floor drainage. Lights weren’t working in 2 of them. Wi-Fi was not Too great.

Campground Response

Hello Guy, I wanted to let you know that you reviewed the wrong campsite. We don’t have shower facilities at our campground.

Ronald Crowley

Very nice campground. Nice and quiet.

Preface: Our review is based on the following lifestyle. We are full-time RVers simply travelling to see the US and not vacationing. We generally spend 3-14 nights in any CG and move on. Our priority in selecting a CG is: America the Beautiful Senior Pass discounts, then Military CGs, City, County, then State Parks. Commercial CGs are our last choice. Roads: Getting to the park: Assuming you are traveling on I-94, take exit 314 and turn north onto ND-38 for about 3 miles. When you cross the RailRoad tracks tun right onto Main St. Go 4 blocks and turn left onto Strand Ave. The CG is about 0.5 miles ahead. Strand Ave dead ends into the CG. Inside the park/base: Strand Ave and the park road have gravel surfaces. There are no overhead clearance issues. Site No.: 8. Patio: Grass with plenty of room. Picnic Table: The website indicates one; however, it was not there. Fire Ring: Yes, located on the driver’s side of the spot, opposite of what you would expect. Lantern/Trash Pole: No. There is a 90 gallon trash can provided at each site in the CG. LxW, Lvl: Length about 55’, width of graveled area about 15’, basically level. Electric: 20/30/50-amp connections with the post located toward the back of the sites. Water: Pressure was adequate with the hookup co-located with the electric. Pressure regulator used and recommended. Sewer: Yes, located near the water & electric hook ups. Bath/Shower House: None. Across the baseball field there are restrooms. We did not check to see if they are available.. Wi-fi: The CG, does NOT have wi-fi. We had 3-4 bars of 4 bars of service on AT&T and 2-3 of 5 bars of Verizon Jetpack. We were able to stream movies. Playground: It is a city park with baseball fields in front of the campsites. We did not see any playground equipment. TV: We had multiple (28) OTA channels. Yes, we would stay at this location again. We planned this as a 7 day stop and anticipated it being a first come/first served location. On 7/8/22 the policy changed to a reservation only CG. Fortunately, we were able to secure a reservation for one night, and then continued or travels the following day. It was a great spot for us. The city website is helpful and the limited number of people with whom we had contact were friendly and helpful.

Campground Response

I appreciate your review, but North Park New Salem, is at exit 127, not exit 314. This is not the same campsite you had your stay at.

We were looking for a last minute getaway for this holiday weekend and found all the ND State Parks we’re booked up. On a whim we found this park. Making reservations was very easy. The only downside to the reservation process was I could not find a park map. I just selected site one and figured we’d roll with it. This park is excellent!!! The grass was neatly mowed everywhere! Not just in certain areas. Each site has a fire ring. It is very quiet and very clean. We have a new favorite for weekend getaways! The grocery store in town, Tellmans, is very nice and very nicely stocked if you need anything. Plus you have two convenience stores just north of the park. The Exxon station has a dump station. We’ll be back!!!

Great campground. Everything awesome. Add sewer for longer stays

Jeanette Anderson

Awesome campground. Great play area. Very clean. Only thing add sewer.

Nancy Slag

Everything so clean and mowed!!!! Just wish there was sewer.

Wes Halle

Very, nice, well maintained little campground. Plenty of grass and nice modern playground for kids. New picnic tables and each site with a campfire ring. A couple of community shelters to spend time outside if it rains

Bruce Feldman

Very nice campground. Look forward to visiting again.

Basically just needed somewhere to park our camper so we could sleep after a wedding. Campground was easy to get to. Garbage cans were available, and we got to watch a HS playoff football game while we were getting ready for the wedding! If our kids were little, they would have LOVED the park!

Stacy Maier

Nice park with water and power, several stores and businesses with minutes of camp, only reason I gave it 4 stars is because there isn't any sewer hookup.

Cliff Butler

Great place to camp in a friendly town!

David McCowan

It would be nice if the shelters and sites were more clearly marked as to what number they are. The shelters especially, the only number I could find was a tiny label on their breakerbox
