Vein Mountain WAS a good campground. After getting my Azz reamed by the Take over guy who was Trying to use my Credit Card WITHOUT permission I stayed a few days just to see Nothing. The Temporary Camphost told me he got Sucked into it all. LDMA camps are not family friendly. I will never go back.

First time there. I love to hike the streams-this one is great. I'm going back soon. Others were dredging-too rough on the knees for me. Nice people.

Homeless people living there, plumbing repairs neglected in bath house. My wife had to take a kitten to the shelter, totally ruined first three days.

Campground Response

Really Bob?? Homeless people you are referring to are MEMBERS! Plumbing repair outside bathouse was waiting on parts to come in. You also had a hose at your camper you could have used or the faucet in front of the pump house. And the kitten was taken by me driving your wife to the pound. We can't control strays that wander in camp. Sorry you had such a bad time here.

Our stay was for ten days. We had a group of seven people camping either in tents, a pop up and a rented tow trailer. We had water and electric hook ups at each site. The sites seemed more rustic than expected with many of them not having upkept maintenance in years. There weren't any picnic tables nor fire rings, just rocks in a circle, safety? It appears to me that if the bathrooms were cleaned prior to the Big Dig they held two weeks prior to us getting there, they hadn't been cleaned since and weren't cleaned the entire ten days we were there. The gold found was ultra fine and mighty scarce. The campground was peaceful and quiet for the most part with the exception of someone's dog constantly yapping.

First day as a GPAA MEMBER Staff tried selling a LDMA membership and we indicated we wanted to check it out first. Staff was not friendly, hence our decision not to become members. Bathroom was cleaned by us and never touched otherwise for the whole week there. No picnic table on site. Was told to move from one pile that we were finding gold (previousely told LDMA member to take from first pile and when he went back to site) we were directed to another that had none, I think it was a setup to clean the area for them because they certainly were not cleaning. Wasn't allowed any where without the LDMA member present. Constantly watched by staff but never communicated with. Caretakers need to be replaced.
