Love that the campground is small but offers up all our needs. Family oriented without all the showy stuff. The little kids doing a musical show with hand written invitations was precious.

Overall everything was great. Clean bathroom, right next to beach, and quite. The only improvement would be site itself could be more leveled, so it is easier to level the rv.

What a fantastic camping spot. Clean bathrooms, quiet pool area right on the beach and the access to the beach/pier was incredible. You can bike to grocery stores, coffee shops and there are some restaurants within walking distance. I don't want to leave a glowing review because I don't want people to know about it, but it's worth it. Ou family of 4 (kids ages 11 & 12 were busy both in the water and around the Avon area. With it being a small campground, there weren't many campers there throughout the week, but it filled up by the July 4th weekend and we were happy to get out of town the next day. The 4th Fireworks show from the Pier was spectacular!

Small, quiet, clean RV park steps from the beach. Beautiful pool and sundeck overlooking the ocean. Only 26 sites so the pool or the beach was never crowded. Campground was peaceful and quiet too. Right next to the Avon pier with easy beach access without having to climb the dunes. Nice waves to surf and wide area of beach. Avon was a relaxed town with biking paths to everything, shopping and restaurants nearby. Hatteras island and the lighthouse as well as ferries to Ocracoke Island are nearby, great location in OBX. Campground village included a tavern/restaurant with dog friendly brew garden. Playground for kids with grassy area for pups. Food truck onsite for breakfast/lunch. Completely different experience than the large crowded campgrounds in the best way. Look forward to coming back.

We stayed here 5 nights and really enjoyed it. Great location, just a few steps away from the beach. The pool is really nice and sitting on the upper deck makes you feel like you have an ocean front house. The bathrooms/showers were nice and clean as well as the rest of the property. We will definitely be returning to stay here again!

David Eberly

Great location and most importantly, the admin was outstanding—prompt and complete. The hook up are well-maintained, but the raised sewer connection in relation to the site bed results in an up hill flow. My only suggestion is a rock or concrete patio for the picnic table area. Restaurant: never received at call/text regarding our table was ready Wednesday evening. But, we’ll be back. Site 16 is ideal for us. Thanks.

Pool is clean and quiet. Great campground especially if you love to fish as the pier is right there. Ocean access is perfect and several little shops and cafes/restaurants are close by. Owner is very kind and available if any need was to arise. We will be back each year.

Campground Response

We cannot wait to have you each year Sandra! Thank you for your awesome review!

Only thing that could make it better would be steps to the beach and more entertainment in the Beach Klub

Campground Response

Hi Teresa, thank you for the feedback. We built a walkway from our Beach Klub to the beach that takes you down a set of steps directly to the beach. We cannot build steps beside the Avon Pier as the sands beside the pier shift yearly and we must have a driveway clear for rescue vehicles. Steps are not permitted in that area by the National Park Service. We have national touring bands at our Beach Klub every Thursday night in the summer. We do our best to provide the island & our guests with entertainment, but there are also many great local performers that play music at the island's restaurants. That can also be an excellent option for music when visiting. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to seeing you in the future.

A very nice/clean little RV campsite on Hatteras Island. It accommodates all size RVs. Access to the beach, pier, pool and restaurant are all within 2-4 minute walk. Hassle free checkin. One of the better parks on Hatteras Island with excellent WiFi . “Avon by the Sea” is a place we will come back to.

Campground Response

Thank you for the awesome review Michael! We look forward to having you all back at Avon by the Sea on your next trip to OBX!
