Rick Miller

Lovely location. Gravel pads. AMAZING restaurant (try the AHI Tuna!!!) stable electric, working water and sewer. Excellent WiFi. Friendly folks. What more could you want? :)

Donna Cowdrey

Near restaurants and shops. We appreciated the free pass to the pier next door. Bathrooms are new and clean but need benches and hooks to put your stuff on. Wifi was great but wanted cable too for the price.

John Donnelly

Excellent location. We were one of 3 campers in their 25 sites. Wifi was 23MPS. Grassy play area for kids. Right on the beach. Will definitely stay there again.

Mark sullivan

My third visit ! Always most enjoyable !!!

Susan Dumais

Lovely small campground right next to the beach. A large dune prevents a view of the ocean, but you can certainly hear the waves. The pier and the restaurant, Pangea, are great bonuses.

alfred Sharpe

We stayed off season and were not dissapointed. The resort itself is small yet large enough to relax providing easy access to the fish pier. The restaurant is solid with amazing staff. As we are not really "planners" we were not able to book any spa services, so plan to book those well before arriving. No complaints at all and we will likley return for another fabulous experience.

Campground Response

Thank you so much Alfred! We look forward to having you back on your next adventure!

John Matthews

Freaking great time here, so close to the beach all I did everyday was eat fish, watch people serious about fishing fish and walk in the beach. The owners are kind and helpful and I will be back next year. Just be careful the speed hump bottomed out on my car. Maybe also cement pads would be a bonus to keep sand to a minimum tracking into RV. A++

Campground Response

Thank you for sharing John! We definitely look forward to seeing you again and are so glad to here you enjoyed your time!

Ellen Covell

Location of this campground is the best….backs right up to the dunes by the Avon Fishing pier. But it really is a large parking lot that has been converted to an RV park. Sites are tiny, location can be very noisy with the megaphones on the beach competing with the trash trucks very early in the morning. Had we only known……

Campground Response

Hi Ellen, I'm sorry about the noise on Sunday. There was a community surf competition (not by Avon by the Sea or Koru Village, but by the East Coast Surf Association) on Sunday at the beach from 9am-2:30pm. It was a wonderful event for the kids of our community to compete in and show their skills against the rest of the east. It is not often that our small community is able to gather in these type of events, so we offered the Avon Pier beach space for them to hold the event a few days before the competition, as the waves were good by the pier during that time. I should have let you know that the event was going to happen and I apologize for that, however please keep in mind that you did book the day before you checked in, thus I did not have much time to update you on all community events that were scheduled to happen in the surrounding areas. As far as the trash truck, we cannot control Dare County's trash truck schedule. The trash trucks are also loud early in the mornings in residential neighborhoods as well for a brief period. This is for the whole county. Again I apologize for their noise, but it is also truly out of our control. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and I will try to be more diligent to share all and any surrounding event updates in the future. -Ellisa

Jacqueline Duggins

The sign for the campground needs to be bigger. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.

Campground Response

Totally agreed! We are working on that this winter, and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay!

Tricia Watson

Avon by the Sea is an incredible place to stay and enjoy some of the best features of Hatteras Island. We camped with our gooseneck 30ft long LQ horse trailer. Hooking-up was simple and we appreciated the lights on the hook-up post for at night time. The beach was only a few steps away as well as the food trailers for breakfast and lunch. We dined at Pangea for wine down Wednesday and it was also fantastic. Don't miss out on this place!

Campground Response

Thank you so much Tricia! We loved having you all stay with us and cannot wait for the next time!

walter jones

Very nice well maintained. Definitely would stay there again

Campground Response

Anita Adkins

Nice little campground. Very clean shower room and bathroom. Right beside the dunes on the ocean with easy access to the beach. Easy in and out even for bigger rigs.

Campground Response

Thank you Anita!

Joseph Ford

Great place!! It is small, but clean and quiet. No camp store but store in the pier and Food Trucks (I think they are permanent and they were SO GOOD) made up for that. Owners are very accommodating. Great for family fun, nice play ground. Pool is awesome. Beach Access was easy. We had so much fun. We will be back.

Campground Response

Glad to hear it! Thank you so much Joseph, we will see you again!

Meredith Romito

Love it!

Brandon Rodgers

Awesome campground for a quiet weekend at the beach. Stayed here for Labor Day weekend and even with every site full it was still very quiet. Large open area for the kids (and adults) to play in. Easy access to the beach and fishing pier. Pool was just as pretty as advertised with an elevated balcony overlooking the ocean. The restaurant on site, Pangea Tavern, was also excellent. Duck Donuts just a mile down the road doesn’t hurt either! Highly recommended and we will be back. We stayed at site 2 with a 37’ pull behind and had plenty of room for the trailer and tow vehicle.

Ashley Beaird

I've already reviewed on google. I'll leave the same review here. Quiet and quaint camping. The campground consists of 25 or 26 spots and they are close together. It’s great for families or friends traveling together. A few spots are private based upon the location of the spot. We had spot 25 and it was perfect for our rig. We have a 45ft fifth wheel. Our spot was not nearly as breezy as some others which is good and bad. Good because you can leave the awnings out, bad because of those Hatteras Mosquitoes so bring fans and bug spray. Not the fancy kind of bug spray. Bring the kind you’d take on those jungle hikes. Not much of a view from the campground itself but that’s ok. It’s a short walk to the beach and Avon Pier for those coffee drinking sunrises. The pool is quiet but could use some upkeep. Don’t bring the scooters or hover board for the kids as the roads are gravel. The bikes work best. We’ve throughly enjoyed our stay and we plan on visiting again.

Campground Response

Thanks again Ashley! We will see you all in the future!

Rhonda Ison

Our first time in OBX and Avon by the Sea Campground made it perfect! Very short walk to the beach and the pier. The pool was very clean and gorgeous. The campground is new, opened in May, so no shade just yet, but there are trees planted-soon. We loved the option for Live Music and the Farmers Market on Tuesdays. The grounds has a perfect family feel, was very comfortable. Ellisa was the best! She kept us updated on events, answered all questions and was so kind! By day 3 we were ready to book for next year-and did! Our camping neighbors must have enjoyed it as much as we did, they were planning to book a year in advance, too!

Campground Response

You guys were the best! See you on your next trip to Avon by the Sea!
