Was a great quiet campsite by the ocean for the first week in October. We will definitely be coming back next year.

Campground Response

We can't wait to have you back! Thank you for the review!

Our overall experience was very good. Not a refined RV park, but what a great location! Interior roads are good, gravel and well radiused for big rigs. Sites are mostly back in, but roomy enough to minimize drama. Our site was level within one degree, surfaced in crushed rock, and equipped with a new picnic table. Between the roomy sites is grass, well tended. Television reception, for us, was limited to NC public television, 4 channels. No cable option. Good 4G cell service, so casting a streamed show to your TV works fine. Water pressure good, electric steady at 124 and septic hookups of the newest sort with threaded receiver. Access to pier and beach is easy and almost immediate. Services - fuel, groceries, etc - are nearby. Diesel was $4.49/gal during our visit. We plan to return.

Campground Response

Thank you for the detailed review James!

Campground Response

Thank you for your feedback and we are glad you enjoyed your stay!

Sarah Van Winkle

We had a very pleasant stay at this wonderful location. Bathroom and showers were clean and camper space was adequate. The only downfall was that the pool wasn't open the time of year we went but the kids had fun in the ocean. One disgruntled camper complained several times about our dog barking inside our camper at 5pm when we went for a quick sit down dinner on the property. The park manager called us to let us know about the complaint and was very friendly about it, and offered for us to move. I wish the offer would have been extended to the other party instead. Unfortunately, that meant I didn't get to sit down for dinner with my family. Overall, we would probably return or recommend to others given the opportunity.

Campground Response

Thank you so much for sharing your experience Sarah! The pool was covered October 9th (as advertised) as even though we've had days of gorgeous fall weather, the water had chilled dramatically with the north wind. I am so glad that the beach was still beautiful though! As far as the dog situation, I am very glad we were able to work together on that. The only reason I offered you all to move instead of the other guests, is because they were a group of 8 and I could not possibly move that many campers during a nearly full weekend. I am grateful that everything worked out and that you all enjoyed your stay with us.

It was a fantastic experience.

Campground Response

We enjoyed our stay! It was fun walking on the wharf to see the fisher people. The store could be better stocked-although we were able to get chips and wine (the necessities of life!). Bath house was very clean and well kept. We had dinner at Pangea-fun vibe and great food! Alissa was very sweet and responsive to my questions. Would stay again!

Campground Response

Thank you Kathryn! We look forward to having you stay with us again!

Jacob DeMala

Laid back, easy access to beach, pier, stores. Nice bath house

Campground Response

Thank you Jacob! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay!

Donna Hall

We enjoyed our stay at Avon by the Sea- the facilities were very well maintained, the communication was very good with the camp host and you can’t camp any closer to the ocean! An added plus is the use of the beach club pool and viewing deck next door and an excellent coffee truck right on the property to visit every morning! The coffees and “yeasty boy” donuts were a highlight.

Campground Response

We are so glad to hear it Donna! We look forward to having you back at Avon by the Sea during your next OBX adventure (and more awesome donuts by the beach)!

Kathy Voegtline

It was nice and clean and a quick walk to the beach and restaurants were all close by. If we come back this way we will stay here again.

Campground Response

We definitely look forward to having you back Kathy!

Avon by the Sea is in an awesome location!!! It's just steps from the beach and Avon fishing pier. The campground is small and cozy. The bathhouse is so very nice, lots of hot water all new. Elisa is super friendly and conscientious. During Tropical Storm Adalia, there were unbelievably loud alarms going off in the bathhouse & she came to fix it right away. I have nothing bad to say about this campground and would highly recommend it both for it's location & it's amenities, including a great beach Klub with pool and beach access. There is also live music in summer, food trucks right next door...it's an amazing place!!!

Campground Response

We loved having you stay with us this Fall, Janet! You all were awesome guests and I believe can be considered real "Outer Bankers" after making it through the fall nor'easters! We look forward to having you back again one day and wish you epic adventures ahead.

Olivia Palmer

Wish I could give this place a million stars. My husband had a great couple of days there camping in our camper van. Facilities were super nice. Ellissa was very responsive with calling and was in close touch when weather was looking rough. We will definitely be booking again. Thanks for making our first OBX trip one to remember 🩵

Campground Response

Thank you Olivia! It was a wild time of weather leading up to your arrival but I am so glad it worked out! I loved y'all's go with the flow attitude and we are so glad you enjoyed your time and adventure. We look forward to having you all back one day!

“Southern Hospitality” our trip to Avon by the Sea was everything we hoped for! When we arrived we wanted to change spots and they were very kind and accommodating. We even received 3 doggie biscuits in our check in bag for our fur kids! The beach access was perfect and hello….! There is an amazing ocean front pool for the RV guests!!! Seriously the best camping on OBX and well worth the cost. We will be back next year, thanks again!

Campground Response
