Room was very clean and nice size. Loved the ice cream store. Grounds were clean and very nice. Room was right on the canal so didn’t have to go far to fish from the bank. Only gave four stars because the air conditioner in room #13 was very loud when it cut on. Sounded like a truck running in the room. Had to turn TV up loud in order to hear it. Otherwise would recommend.

Campground Response

Thank you very much! We will have to look into the AC issue.

Was sent to motel room - hadn’t been cleaned. 2nd room didn’t even have a tiny bar of soap. Sheets are camo so you really can’t tell if they are even clean and by the look of every else you couldn’t be sure. Bathtub had been repaired leaving a huge nasty looking black area that made you not want to shower. Toilet full of rust stains. No fridge or microwave. Just an anweful place. And all this for about $75/night. NEVER again!

Campground Response

Hello Cindy, We are very sorry that your stay with us was not a good one. These tiny rooms on the end are definitely older and have not been updated. This in no way is any excuse for you not to have soap, or anything else you needed for that matter. We hope that you could see from The rest of our property that we do strive for a nice, clean, well kept environment for our guests. Again, our sincerest apologies.

Major changes that no longer targets the fishing clients. No longer serves breakfast, opens too late on weekdays for fishing clients . Down scaled fish cleaning facilities and nowhere to dispose of the fish carcasses. I understand the establishment no longer desires fishing clients over campers but this should be advertised as camping but very little fishing facilities. I have been using Hill’s Landing since 1977 , sad to see it change.

Campground Response

Hello Sir, we are bummed that you were not satisfied with our facility. A lot has changed here since 1977. We do not advertise as a "Fish Camp", our name is Hills Landing & RV Park. However, it just so happens that our landing sits right in the middle of The Santee Lake system, which is renowned for its amazing fishing. When we purchased Hills Landing in 2020, everything at this place was in desperate need of repair. EVERYTHING. Along with the endless list of repairs, we were working hard to try and maintain a fully operational kitchen and staff, which was extremely challenging. For more reasons that we will not mention, we decided to close down the sit-down, made to order style restaurant and replace it with something more manageable. We very much disagree with your comment that we "no longer desire fishing clients". This is simply not true. A lot of our campers come here specifically to fish these amazing lakes, and they love what our campground has to offer. Our property boasts a state of the art "LIVE BAIT" facility, as well as a full tackle shop section inside our General Store. When you launch your boat here, it puts you directly into the deep water access of the Diversion Canal, right between Lake Moultrie and Lake Marion. We host multiple fishing tournaments here every year as well as sponsor a Veteran's tournament. The only issue we were not able to manage, was having a place to dump the several thousands of pounds of fish carcasses we were faced with. Logistically we have no pace to put them. We feel it is the responsibility of the man or woman that catches the fish to clean, and dispose of their fish carcasses in a responsible way. With that said, we are extremely proud of the improvements and additions we've made to this property, and we will continue to do so.

We have stayed in their hotel rooms multiple times but this time we stayed in a trailer. Everytime we stay here they treat us like family. We prefer you stay here if you are looking for a family oriented place to stay at cross with easy access to diversion canal. We will continue to stay here as long as the atmosphere and facility stays the way it is now!

Campground Response

We are so happy you and your family had a nice time here with us!! We look forward to accommodating y'all again in the near future.

As always, the stay was very nice. The pull through sites are clean and convenient. The prices are up front and easy to pay with no fuss. They have a nice laundry facility that is clean with nice machines. They are investing in a very nice gating and stone pillars that surround the property. It is on some of the best fishing in the area with an easily accessable boat launch at the campground. There is also a store on the property that has all the fishing gear needed.

Campground Response

Thank you for your kind words! We are thrilled that you are happy with all the upgrades! More to come!!

We really enjoyed our time with this community. A very friendly, helpful, and responsive staff. A community with a good balance of privacy. Family friendly, as well as serving a traveling work force. Everyone was pleasant and respectful. Just added a new ice cream bar, which convinced my daughter she wanted to stay in SC forever. Good folks. We appreciate our time there and will miss it.

Campground Response

Wow, thank you sir for this wonderful review!! We are happy you enjoyed your time here with us!!

What great hosts at this camp. It is very clean and they are adding amenities all the time. I loved the location right on the river. The store is adequate and the fresh pizza available at the store is delicious. The pads are gravel with no flooding issues. I would definitely stay there again.

The owners commitment to quality is evident in the upgrades that you can see. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent for fishing both lakes or the canal. The only downside is being next to a busy road.

Thank you very much!

We love Hills Landing!! The campground is beautiful, well maintained and clean. All the sites are spacious and easy to access. Our 42ft fifth wheel fits nicely! The onsite bait shop and store made it convenient to grab bait, ice and snacks before launching our boat into the diversion canal that connects the Santee Cooper lakes. Be sure to check out the sunrise from the landing/store area, mornings are absolutely gorgeous looking out over the water!! There is close to a mile or more of water front shoreline to fish, hike or walk dogs along. Ours loves it! The covered seating on the dock is so relaxing to enjoy a fresh made pizza while watching boats pass by in the afternoons. Tony and Stephanie are first class owners and have done great things here with the help of their amazing crew!! They all make you feel like family every time you see them. When camping in the santee cooper/ lowcountry area, this is the place to stay.

Campground Response

Wow! Thank you so much!
