The park is a Good Sam facility, and discounts are available. Only a few sites are Big-Rig friendly. Crystal Rock is one of only a couple places that we have stayed at more than one time. We found it last year by accident, and we liked it so much that we had to go back. What swayed us most was the pleasantness of the owners. They are committed to making the park a friendly and clean atmosphere, and work 12-18 hours a day in doing so. The restrooms are always clean, the grass is mowed, the roads are maintained (both asphalt and stone), and the public areas are in great shape as well. While the park has a minimal number of FHU sites (I think 16 or 17 right now), there are plenty of WE sites available, as well as a number of E only sites too. There is a small, minimally stocked camp store, a laundry facility (coin-op), 2 centrally located shower/restroom buildings with dish washing stations, firewood is available, and a small playground for the kids, but no pool or pond on site. Also available are 12 small cabins, sleeping 4 or 6 people, with AC, refrigerator, and microwave. For cabin rentals, you must bring your own linens. While online reservations and availability are not an option at this time, they are quite easy to work with on the phone when calling for information. Fair warning, though, if you are wanting a FHU site, you should probably call well in advance (particularly for holiday/busy weekends) because of the limited availability. Uncommonly, you only have to be 18 to rent a site (21 to rent one of the cabins). A good number of the sites, and all of the FHU sites, are shaded with mature trees. Sites are not all level, but they are also not so far out of level that you can't easily level your rig using normal procedures. Sites are stone if you get FHU or WE, and grass for E only and tent. Free Wifi is available, and works well in the FHU area (can't speak for other areas of the park) and there is also pay WiFi available (this may work better in the outlying areas of the camp). FHU sites also have cable TV with probably 50 channels. Situated on a dead-end county road just off of S.R. 6 north of Castalia and west of Sandusky, the traffic is not too bad, although it seems that 2-3 times a day, some of the "neighbors" want to try to impress the campers with their loud trucks and ATV's......nothing too bad, though. The campground is a mere mile or so from the south shores of the Sandusky Bay of Lake Erie, and only about 10-15 minutes from the actual lake (Port Clinton/Marblehead area). Also nearby is Pickerel Creek Wildlife area (only a couple minutes away) and Cedar Point Amusement Park. Throughout the season, the camp also offers special entertainment and events (mostly on weekends) and information can be found on their website. - Review provided by RV Park Recommendations & Reviews Facebook Group
