Covered Bridge Campsite is located in the Western Catskills of Sullivan County, NY. Our property features nearly a mile of creekfront on the famous Willowemoc! It is a peaceful, wooded, and family-oriented campground offering nearly 26 acres of natural beauty, surrounded by 500 acres of the Catskill Forest Preserve.

Campers have been returning for decades to enjoy our great fishing, hiking and waterfalls steps from the campsites. We offer creekfront campsites for RVs and tents with varying levels of privacy, perfect for those needing to escape for a while.

There are three separate tenting areas, some offering parking and drinking water directly at the site and others are completely primitive walk-in sites with water and dishwashing sinks nearby. RV and camper-trailer sites offer 20 or 30 amp electric and water.

Our campground has clean restrooms with free hot showers.

Covered Bridge Campsite is open May through October for Camping

Open Dates: November 1 to October 31

Firewood Regulations

On March 18, 2009 the NY DEC enacted a regulation to protect our forests from destructive invasive species. This is to stop invasive, exotic tree insects and diseases from further spreading in our state. In short, the regulation... -Prohibits transporting firewood within New York more than 50 miles from its source. -Leave firewood home - unless you live within 50 miles. This is not our rule, it is the DEC's. -State Penalties under the Environmental Conservation law, violations of these regulations are subject to a $200 fine, plus a $100 civil penalty and up to 15 days in jail. -Firewood Bundle are for sale at campground. We sell seasoned hard wood, not pine. -Firewood purchased elsewhere, the DEC requires you to obtain a receipt from the dealer to show it came from within 50 miles of the campground. -Cutting or Burning branches or logs found on our property is prohibited.

Radios

At anytime your radio can be heard off your site, it's too loud. (No radios allowed in secluded Island or Pines sites) No generators, chainsaws or bug zappers permitted. No gas powered remote controlled vehicles. No off-road vehicles.

Quiet Hours

Quiet Time is 10PM to 8AM and is strictly enforced. ALL RADIOS AND ENGINES OFF PLEASE.

Trash/Garbage

Please be respectful with any waste. We have wildlife in the area that is attracted to trash containing food scraps. Campers are expected to bring their trash to the dumpster before Check Out. Campers come to our campground for the natural beauty of the area, and littering only ruins this for everyone. Extra charges will apply if we have to clean up trash from your campsite.

WATERFALL TRAIL: Walk over the covered bridge and on the left is the Angler's parking lot.  Behind it, cross the little creek (not the Willowemoc) and follow the creek and path up the mountain.  The path separates but always comes back together.  Path ends at a 20' waterfall.  You will see several smaller waterfalls along the path.  This a family friendly hike.

RIVERSIDE TRAIL:  Cross the Covered Bridge, on the left, follow the dirt path along the river.  This is approximately a 1 mile hike following the Willowemoc Creek.

FISHING: Ages 16 & up must have a NY State Fishing License

This campground offered the beautiful, rustic camping experience we were looking for. Just a nice place to settle into nature and enjoy everything it has to offer. The campground staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. We will be returning for sure!

A great campsite, we stayed on a Waterfront, Primitive Tent Site and loved it, lots of space and feeling out in the wild but also nearby, very happy with the people running the site, we had wood dropped off at our place for us

Covered Bridge Campsite (should be Scamsite) is a shabby, run down campground totally overgrown with weeds and brush and every structure on the property is literally rotting away and falling apart. The bathroom and shower areas are disgusting, moldy and have little rodent holes chewed out along the lower edge of the wall. I refused to stay there and they refused to refund my money citing their "no refund policy". As it turns out, their no refund policy is their license to steal your money. If you get duped in to booking a reservation there, I'll also warn you that its so overgrown and poorly laid out that you'll have all you can do to get your rig back out of the lousy dump.

Campground Response

Hi Michael, thank you for taking the time to post a review. We apologize that your campsite didn’t live up to your expectations. We hope you can understand that the campground was recently put under new management (a few weeks before you arrived) and the new owners will be investing $200,000+ over the next couple of off-seasons to improve the facilities. In fact, we have already completed significant tree work and removal to make the sites more accessible to RVs. We hope you will come back next year to see the renovations and improvements!

We stayed when it was raining and showed up later in the night and the Manager waited for us and showed us our awesome campsite (Island 1 - the best!) and was very hospitable. Excellent place to camp and fish right from your campsite.

We stayed at a creek side site which had a water spout, firepit, picnic table and an outhouse nearby. The outhouse is quite literally just that with no light or sink, that was the only thing I felt lacking was a proper bathroom. But overall we loved our stay, waking up to the babbling brook right outside our car bed was wonderful

Was here last year in September and it was not great. Sites were very hard to get into and not taken care of. That was under the old ownership. Stayed from 9/24 to 9/27 this year and quite a difference. Trees are being trimmed back, sites are cleaner and the new owner is wonderful. So glad someone is cleaning the whole operation up as the campground is beautiful. I definitely will be back. I’m sure it will be a 5 star campground as things continue to improve.

Campground Response

We are sorry to hear that the stay didn't live up to your expectations. We recently took over management and are planning significant renovations to the facilities. We are happy that you were able to use our WiFi and consult with our manager on nearby attractions and places to see, though. It seemed like were having a good time when you were here!
