Cochiti Lake Rec Area

Overview

The Cochiti Lake Recreation Area is located in Pena Blanca, New Mexico near the Rio Grande and upstream from Albuquerque. Enjoy spectacular outdoor events such as day sailing, fishing, kayaking and wind surfing. This is a designated "quiet lake," so boat operators cannot get up to wake speeds, which make it a perfect environment for quiet water activities and a still lake surface. You can also go hiking and biking around the lake and enjoy some of the most pristine forestry to photograph. Since Albuquerque is so close by, visitors can look forward to local dining, shopping, exploration and the many activities and festivals that residents take advantage of daily.
