Located in the Lincoln National Forest, New Mexico are the Bluff Springs Dispersed Campsites. It is a partially developed picnic area with dispersed campsites with spectacular mountain views, and beautiful forestry all around. Take one of the trails around clumps of wildflowers, and be sure to catch at least one sunset or sunrise; have a camera handy! There's also a few small waterfalls within the park so keep your eyes open for that! Most visitors to this site go off to the Cloudcroft village to take advantage of the local sights and do some gift or food shopping. Maybe you'll be in time for one of the three annual festivals that take place in Zenith Park in the village.

Set against the breathtaking Sacramento Mountains, the Oliver Lee Memorial park features a historic ranch house, quiet camping in the Chihuahuan Desert, and the unique oasis of pools of water under the cottonwood trees of Dog Canyon. Visitors can look forward to a short walk on the Riparian Nature Trail or a challenging hike up the Dog Canyon Trail, as well as acres and acres of beautiful desert vistas. Picnicking and wildlife viewing are also popular activities at this site. Open all year round, park facilities include: water, group camping, electricity, restrooms, showers and dump stations. Bonito Lake Campground is just a mile from Bonito Lake. Even though there's no fishing at the lake, there is plenty to do such as: camping, hiking and so much sight seeing along the gorgeous green mountain ranges.

The East Side Campground is located at Sumner Lake, New Mexico and is a great place for a quiet yet adventurous southwestern vacation. Enjoy excellent fishing at the lake for trout, bass, crappie and walleye, and plenty of water surface for water sports such as swimming, boating, canoeing and paddle boarding. Of course, with so much open area to explore, many campers go on long hikes or bike rides along the trails or make their own paths. Also be sure to keep your eyes open around dawn or dusk for one of those iconic New Mexico sunrises or sunsets. You won't be disappointed.

The Three Rivers Petroglyph Site is the biggest collection of petroglyphs in the nation, and is a great place to immerse yourself in the history and rich culture of the southwest. Hikers prepare for some challenging and scenic trails, and great views of the Sierra and Tularosa Basin. The nearby trading post is also world-class, offering campers a pick of the best local arts and craft, each unique piece holding some historic or cultural significance. Fall in love with the southwest at this park, where there's so much of nature to explore. Hike the gorgeous desert vistas, or mountain bike the hills around the campground. There's also so much stargazing to be done, so settle in at dusk to enjoy the reds and oranges of an iconic New Mexico sunset and strap in for the nighttime light show.  

Located at Sumner Lake, New Mexico, Mesquite Campground is a go-to campus for excellent outdoor recreation amidst gorgeous natural terrain. Look forward to catching crappie, walleye and bass, and if you enjoy water sports, there's plenty of space at the reservoir for boating, kayaking and swimming. The area is also well-forested, and perfect for biking, hiking and exploring, so be sure to go outside and enjoy the beautiful weather and curious wildlife. Less than a mile from Cloudcroft is the Lower Fir Group Campground in the Lincoln National Forest reserve. As you'd expect, there's plenty to do in this area: take your family on hiking and biking expeditions through the dense, gorgeous forestry of the campground, and go on plenty of picnics while you're there. You can also walk to Cloudcroft for some shopping, entertainment and interaction with the friendly locals.

Adjacent to the Malpais Lava Flow is the Valley of Fires recreation Area. Just north of Portales New Mexico is the regional beauty of the Oasis State Park. It is set among cottonwood trees, shifting sand dunes and a small fishing lake. Although fishing is the park's main attraction, also look forward to excellent hiking trails, mountain biking trails, picnic areas, and a peaceful shady campground and an abundance of birds.
