About New Jersey

New Jersey Campgrounds and RV Parks

The New Jersey RV parks and campgrounds are spread across the state, and tend to cluster around the outskirts of the major metro areas and around the destination resort areas and areas with vibrant naturalism, especially in the southern half of the Garden State. Choosing a New Jersey RV site for camping bears the benefit of being within a day’s drive of much of the central Atlantic Coast, and destinations like New York, Philadelphia, Hershey, PA and Washington, D.C. But New Jersey has plenty to see and experience within its borders. The state is home to the Jersey Shore and Atlantic City in the south, and the suburbs of New York City in the north. There are dozens of amusement parks, water parks, and theme parks to choose from in New Jersey, and the state is dotted with numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation in the form of state parks, forests, monuments, and areas brimming with remote wilderness in a state with many, many people.

Cape May Point State Park is New Jersey’s southernmost natural attraction, and easily one of its most popular. Just down Route 9 from Atlantic City, this park is more than just a beautiful beach overlooking Delaware Bay, it also has dense forest trails perfect for hiking, an environmental center, and historic lighthouse. There are many RV parks in southern New Jersey, with some of New Jersey’s best-loved RV resorts existing in this area. Just south of Atlantic City are Corson’s Inlet State Park, Belleplain State Forest, and the Cape May County Park and Zoo. Further out, Parvin State Park is a popular spot for folks to make camp in the summertime.

Central New Jersey, just east of Philadelphia and Trenton are a massive network of forest that include Wharton State Forest, Bass River State Forest, Penn State Forest, and Brendan T. Byrne State Forest. Each of these areas has something different to offer visitors, and have differing infrastructure in terms of roads and amenities. Further north the State Forests become State Parks and include popular spots like Allaire State Park, Monmouth Battlefield State Park, and Cheesequake State Park, which welcomes guests with an Interpretive Center.

North of the Raritan River and south of I-78 are Washington Valley Park and Washington Rock State Park, where the wilderness and history collide. Motor north and you’ll approach a lake land region of New Jersey with Stephens State Park, Hacklebarney State Park, Voorhees State Park, and Hopatcong State Park just north of I-80. Northern New Jersey RV parks and campgrounds tend to be scattered around the natural attractions dotting the area between New York and Pennsylvania. The area’s most popular spots for camping include High Point State Park, Wawayanda State Park, Farny State Park, and Kittatinny Valley State Park.
