Sportsman RV Campground

Mostly long term residents. Problem with septic, smells like sewage. Bathrooms are run down and filthy. Not taken care of.

Terrible! Noisy! Filthy! Littered with garbage everywhere!

I booked for a month from Indiana for $700, and when I arrived was not impressed with the campground. There is trash all over the place, broken down vehicles and the shower/restrooms were filthy and falling apart.

Is it possible to leave ZERO stars?? Dump. Disgusting. Disturbing. DON’T!!! Trash & furniture in front of trailers that are clearly there for the long term. Broken down cars, beer cans, broken concrete, etc. Bathrooms are gross & unusable!!! They charge a $50 cleaning deposit but obviously do no cleaning. Perhaps for $50 this is a hidden gem as it is on the New River but the negatives outweigh the positives at this “campground”. The obvious noise from the highway is loud & ongoing construction is noted in the description. There are other places to stay in the area & I recommend you check them out. We made a snap decision to stay here without researching first. We stayed as it was too late to change course. A one night stay was enough time to determine we would never return. Sadly, I am unable to post pictures but trust me. This place should be razed.

Our host was more than pleasant. The campground was really bad, no really level sites. Had to try to make it work. The campers were slobs, garbage thrown outside campers. 1pickup truck bed filled to top with beer bottles, and he left early for work! Could be a road hazard?? Oh yeah. Our host stayed with us for the whole time helping us to try to level up. Glad it was only 1 night.

If you are just looking for a place to stay for a few days it’s ok. It’s clean but the traffic from highway is loud

The fresh water faucet for the spot I reserved was being used by another camper because his was not working. definitely not conducive to family with kids. Bathhouse is filthy with spiders all over the place. no one cleaned the bathhouse while we were there a week. the general ground is clean but the people that lives there permanently/long term does not pick up after their pets. Many long term residents RVs are in desperate need of repairs. they required 100 dollar deposit for electricity and 50 dollar deposit for cleaning.

Perfect spot for an over night. Right off the highway and along the river. Easy in and out with full hookups.

If all you want is a place to pull over and sleep, this will do. No WiFi - bathrooms are primitive and the guy in charge barely speaks English and not interested in being a helpful host. We prepaid but didn’t stay. Couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

Very accessible and easy to get in and out of. The view was great and we were right on the river. A little noisy due to proximity to bridge traffic but still worth the stay.

This was much to be desired. First they need to get rid of the filth, most of the campers looked like they had been their for years with no up keep. When we arrived the store owner informed us that our site was not available because some of the sites were taken by individuals working on the pipe line. Moved us to a different site which noticing on the site was actually cheaper, without compensation. The guy in the camper next to us was a MAJOR alcoholic, the front of his camper/site was littered with beer bottles, beer cases. The bed of his truck was full of beer bottles and other trash (surprised he has been pulled over for this). As we started to unpack we noticed that the faucet for tab water was missing a plug on the bottom so we could hook up our hose. Went up to the store and the owner told me I could use the camper next us faucet because he never used water (gross). His faucet was doing the same thing. Thankfully the camper on the other side of us let us split off and use their faucet. The bath house was absolutely disgusting. No one has cleaned that thing in YEARS. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Was very rundown, directly under the expressway overpass, VERY noisy! Do not recommend.

Positives-The campground was close to the freeway (good for us since it was a one night stay), so noisy. It had a pretty view of a large pond. Negatives-The site was not level at all, took us an hour to get set up and we’ve been doing this for 20+ years. The full time campers were cluttered with junk, very unsightly. The restroom/shower house was disgusting.

The folks at the campground are friendly, it’s pretty on the side of the river. The gas station serves as the office is an extra convenience if you need to pick something up. The bath house is in need of a remodel.

Very disappointed to say th least, closest campground to Harkrader Sports Complex, Christiansburg, Va. Grandson was playing in State Tournament. Couldn'r believe the condition of the campground itself, there is construction of the bridge, but there has been no attention given to any of the remaining sites. Most of the sites were permanent and some had trash all around the campers. Left the same day we pulled in, cried for 2 days. Never did see my grandson play. Worst experience of my 70 years. Owner should be ashamed of himself for taking people's money. Should be closed down t the public.

Our stay was not a good one. The road was not paved as pictured we did not have a picnic table as stated either. We brought our granddaughter she wasn’t able to ride her bicycle as she isn’t able to ride in gravels yet. The several days we were there we didn’t have water 2 1/2 days so our trip was not the best.

Nope!

Its was in very poor condition. Not clean. Trashish trailer in the camp ground. Will not stay there again.
