Bader Park is 3 miles from the small town of Chapman, Nebraska, which offers a small sports bar and convenience store. Grand Island, Nebraska is just 20 miles to the east, which is the home of the Nebraska State Fair, Husker Harvest Days and Island Oasis Water Park.

The campsite we stayed at was extremely gross, smelled like pee and there was used toilet paper all over. The fire ring was filled with trash, 10+ cans, and we could not start a fire in it. The only nice part was the swimming lake and the beach, which appeared to be the only maintained part of this campground - but there was a dead fish that came floating by us. The campground office is dirty, has multiple cats living in it and smells like cat pee so bad I was gagging. The host is also rude, so brace yourself for being made to feel like you are bothering him and your business isn't wanted. Thank goodness it was only $12 for the night. Also, be aware the gate you have to drive through is locked with a padlock from 8a-8p and you cannot leave. We were not told this at any time during check it and it is not listed on the website. This seems hazardous, especially if there is an emergency.

Spent July 4th weekend at Bader park. Camping site was amazing! Right on the water. So many fun activities including Cornhole, live polka music, and a fireworks show on the beach. Will definitely go back again!

LOVED IT!!!! Planning on making Bader part of our annual trip to Grand Island. We like to tent camp in the woods and Bader is PERFECT. Peaceful and relaxed. CLEAN. Friendly.

We LOVE Bader. The staff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The park is clean and full of activities to keep our 10 & 13 year old boys busy. The beach is a clean and fun. There are 7 fishing lakes and cool hiking trails that lead to the Platte. It's only 20 miles from our house in GI, but it feels like we're far away. We'll visit multiple times every year.

You declined my stay hope you didn’t charge me

Campground Response

Sorry Robert. We have been very full at the campground especially on weekends! I think this whole Covid thing has people itching to get out! I believe the Rover Pass system does not charge the deposit to your card unless it has been accepted by the campground so you should not have any charges. Double check and we can figure it out through Rover Pass if you do see a charge!

Nice campsites, good fishing, lots of trails to walk and bike. Good lakes for kayaks.
